Marvel Land Discussion and Rumors

Or imagine a Planet of the Apes overlay for all of Tomorrowland....

I still don't get why they called it Planet of the Apes. As far as I could tell, Charlton Heston went up the coast and found the Statue of Liberty. That means he was running around New Jersey all this time. My guess is that people from Jersey will look like that in the future.

And if the deal does get done, does that mean Fox properties become IP-fodder for the parks????
Bye bye Buzz Lightyear, hello Alien v Predator attraction!!!!

That is a very good question. I am under the impression that Disney can do what they want with Xmen in the parks(Florida excepted, due to a contract with Universal), it's only the film rights that are restricted. Please feel free to set me straight if I'm off base.

As a company, Disney/Marvel will ignore the X Men so long as Fox retains the film rights. So while Disney could use them in the non-WDW parks at any time, they won’t.

This seems like the right move. As long as Fox is putting out hits like Deadpool and Logan, Disney won't want their Marvel to be associated with that kind of humor, language, or violence.

Walt Disney Presents Great Moments with Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter.....

That's not the update we deserve, but the update we need...

I think we can all agree that if that happened, we would all check it out once, which would be the first time many of us have gone into the opera house in years.

I mean, technically Disney rebooted Hulk and Captain America.

Unless you're limiting it strictly to the Disney ran MCU, in which case no character has been rebooted, although Bruce Banner has had two different actors.

Both those movies were prior to the 2008 MCU launch (even prior to Disney) with Iron Man, so not part of the MCU. So no there have been no reboots of any of the MCU versions of the Marvel characters. Unlike the reboots by Fox and Sony of their versions of Marvel characters.

I actually try to go see Lincoln at least once during my trips. I go 2-3x a year.

I guess I'm confused what this statement meant then:

With the exception of Spider-Man, which until recently was outside of the MCU/Marvel/Disney control, there have been no reboots in the MCU.

My comment was in response to reboot overload with Super Hero movies. I guess I worded incorrectly to be clear, though others appear to have gotten my point.

So to be clear, up until Spider-Man's introduction into the MCU no character has had a reboot. However I noted that the Spider-Man reboots were prior to the MCU. So to clarify even more, the MCU has not to this point reboot any film inside its film universe.

Edit - To clarify even more since I mentioned Spider-Man. The Spider-Man introduction into the MCU in itself is a reboot. So they is why technically his solo film is the only one in the MCU that is technically a reboot.

That is not to say there aren't character which are used in the MCU that had previous films that were rebooted. Such as the ones you listed. Marvel character films by Fox and Sony have had several reboots in their universes.

I don't follow, as Spider Man's introduction in the MCU wasn't a reboot within the universe, and Spider Man isn't the only MCU marvel character to have different iterations in the last 30 years of movies, and Disney hasn't rebooted any characters in since they gained the rights to Marvel- so I'm not sure what separates Spider Man from the various Hulk and Captain America movies that have been released before Disney controlled the characters. But, it doesn't really matter, as this is a small point that doesn't really effect the conversation in any meaningful way.

So let's take Spider-Man out of it since that is what you are stuck on. Just a point to be clear, the MCU started BEFORE Disney acquired Marvel.

The MCU after almost 20 films has never rebooted ANY of its character films, period....
