no no no no...the theme park wars are just RETURNING! You've gotta remember there was quite the war going on in the 80's and 90's between the two resorts. After the opening of IOA and DAK though, things sort of died off...now it's just heating up again! :)

Yes, this is true. I was just invoking some Clone Wars drama.

How is that "calling Uni's bluff?" I do not think it means what you think it means.

I think Uni is bluffing about keeping Marvel.

However there is an interesting possibility if I am wrong. If Uni does bulldoze the old Hard Rock Cafe building then that will open up a huge space they can expand into in the original park. If Transformers goes there it would be very close to the ET attraction. I know we talk about a Lucasland at DHS but perhaps Universal is building a "SpielbergLand". Hmmmm.

Yea, I have to agree.

This won't force UNi to change MSHI at all. Instead, we'll just get Transformers in USF, and WWoHP 2.

You know, like what's been happening for MONTHS.

How does that make any semblance of sense?

They already have a huge space they can expand into between MIB and Simpsons. No bulldozing required.

Some think Disney will have to buy out the contract but I think Universal will drop Marvel as soon as they can. Especially now.

By removing the old HRC they will be able to connect a huge new area between ET and MIB. The area is large enough to function as a seperate land. Perhaps SpielbergLand. ????

(do I have to spell out everything to you and seacastle?) :brick:

Your insistence that Uni is giving up Marvel is asinine, so I'm going to ignore it.

No, it's not. There's not much room back there at all, and the rest of the KidZone land would require MAJOR retooling in order to place Transformers in that location.

The more logical area is between Simpsons and MIB. They could have a whole Transformers mini-land back there, rather than the generally tiny area back where the old Hard Rock is.

This is my last comment because you are just being argumentative. If you can conceptualize the area without the HRC building and the possible relocation of minor attractions and placholders then there is a ton of potential space for a new land as I have described.

Now if you will excuse me I am returning to the AMAZING news about AVLAND at DAK!!!! :)

It is being reported now that there are no plans for Transformers at Universal Florida.

I think it is fair to speculate that the blockbuster Avatar announcement is still sinking in at Universal. Could be they know they have to go much bigger than simply cloning that ride in Orlando.

If I was them I would build an entire Transformers land (which the dated MSHI seems to demand and is PERFECT for) and a doubling of the Potterville area. That would be a good start.

Or, you know, Spielberg misspoke which is pretty much what everyone assumed from the beginning except a few folks in tin foil hats.

Yeah, because he would never have any inside information. Sorry, not buying the "misspoke" spin. It is likely more a case of, "panic!!!....they are building Pandora at DAK! anyone got a plan b for us because Transformers ain't enough?!":ROFLOL:

So I guess the rumor is circulating that Transformers may be coming to Orlando. The big question is will it go to IoA or the Studio park. It is a fact that the old HRC is being bulldozed so that may be for Transformers but I think it is also possible that paying royalties to the mouse does not sit well with Universal execs and they will transform MSHI to Transformer-land. At which point Disney could use all Marvel characters at WDW. This has been my prediction since Disney bought Marvel. I have taken a lot of criticism for my take on it but what else is new?

Is it confirmed that Universal is paying royalties to Disney for Marvel characters?

Well, Universal was paying royalties to Marvel before Disney bought them, so you would have to assume that now Universal pays Disney, even if it is indirectly, since Disney now owns Marvel...

As for Transformers, I still hear it will be coming to orlando AFTER it opens in Hollywood... How much longer, I dunno.... Potter 2.0 will probably be announced and completed first though...

Dude, Universal is two steps ahead of Disney right now in the Orlando market when it comes to new development. It took 4 years for Disney to come up with a response to WWoHP. Disney is not taking a leadership position by announcing Avatar. They are responding to changes in the market that Universal forced them to make. You think Universal is the one on its toes? Hardly!

I love the "dated MSHI" comment. LOL, MSHI is home to 2 of the most popular and well-respected rides in the theme park business. Where is this "demand" for a change to it?? You mean the 100% concrete and announced upgrade to Spiderman isn't convincing you that it is here to stay? Right...corporations make industry announcements as a bluff. That wouldn't p*** off their stockholders or anything. Enjoy living in Fantasyland, if you will.

To be honest, I love the competition.

I don't care who is "first"...as long as it gets plussed by the other. WWoHP (from what I've heard and seen online) is amazing. I'm just hoping that Avatar can one-up them. Do I think that Avatar is a bigger franchise than HP? No...but I do think that, if done right, it could be a major plus over the HP attraction/land. It may not draw in the crowds as well as HP...but as a theme park experience, the potential is there.

This post should really be the end of this thread.

Instead, we'll get a few more pages of trolling by the OP.

Hey everyone... NEWS FLASH: jt takes stances on topics to intentionally get attention and get a rise out of people!!

It's schtick, folks. Don't feed the troll.

Disney was blindsided by Harry Potter, it definitely hit them from a merchandise standpoint but it didn't really hit their attendance #s. You could argue that through discounts and things like that those attendance #s were partially inflated, but Universal had to recover from the Happiest Celebration on Earth. They took a huge hit when Soarin' and Expedition Everest were built and Harry Potter has since made up for that.

Here's hoping that the back and forth continues because it can only mean more incredible environments. AVATAR certainly lends itself to that.

Heading for the great escape.
As a regular to both parks I need them to keep adding things to maintain my interest and willingness to part with ever increasing amounts of wedge for no perceptible improvement. This trip in June was the first, where despite having a great time, I was concious that it all had been done before.

Ill see how the other place compares, but if it werent for my DVC commitment I think it would be some time before Id be back to Florida
