Marathon Sunday nightmare

Is this true? Did BOG only allow parties of 4 or more? My first time dining there was in 2015, so I don't know.
Yes. It wasn't cost efficient to leave chairs empty at a table of 4 so they wouldn't seat them. It was a slower time of year and they even had empty tables yet they still wouldn't seat them. Kinda of odd for a restaurant with a romantic setting not to have small tables for a party of two. But now they do.

That is so weird. When was that? I've never heard of a restaurant doing that. If I knew of that policy I would complain beforehand...it doesn't make any sense.

2 people can sit at a table for 4. I'm always a party of 2 and that's what we do. This past time at a BOG lunch all table were full besides a 6 top. I felt bad about it. We sat at one end and I told one of the CMs that another party of 2 could sit on the other end..but no one did.

Blame the customer because the customer DIDN'T WORK HARD ENOUGH... for some place that is supposed to be a RESORT... what the heck kind of thinking is this?

If I'm forking over the chunk of change it costs to take a vacation to WDW you better believe I will be doing some serious planning to make sure everything goes smoothly.

That being said, I do feel bad that the OP missed the final welcome show when they planned this trip specifically to see it, regardless of the reason.

This was a couple of years ago in mid December before the holiday crowds arrived. I too thought it was a strange policy to be told to me by the host CM who insisted it was. That's why I went to GS who said it shouldn't be an issue and they would try to get is in. But after they couldn't contact anyone at the restaurant there was nothing else they could do. The whole reason why we tried then was because it was a slower time, reservations were down and there was actually a hostess standing outside with a tablet taking reservations. Just happy that the issue has been resolved since though. Many soon I will go.

I don't know when this happened to Raven but...We were there in Dec 2012 when it opened (officially opened 12/6/12 but had soft opening a week or 2 before) that week and also in Dec 2013 , Oct/Nov 2014, Oct 2015, and Always got a table for 2 for lunch every trip (sometimes twice each trip) and dinner. So curious when this was ever a thing to not let parties under 4 have table. :)

That CM must of been mistaken (happens often) this was never a policy I have ever known or heard of for BOG or any restaurant. Maybe that particular day it was something they were enforcing for whatever reason by management. But if they indeed had this policy people would of been complaining up a storm on these boards and others I would think in the past. Sorry you maybe had to deal with a CM that maybe was incorrectly informed or it was something temporary that day. :)

Ok so was it an official policy, or the cm just made a mistake? I'm just so intrigued by this because like I said, I'm always a party of 2.
I have to pay adult prices for a child plenty of times, but I've never once been told anywhere that a party of 2 wasn't allowed. I'm hoping that was never actually a real policy

With CMs coming and going, who knows. Maybe with that one CM was informed and caused and issue that shouldn't have been, I don't know. But sometimes that's all it takes. In any case it isn't an issue anymore I guess.

To me in my opinion if it was an official policy we would of heard of it on here or other boards with many complaining about it. Unless it became policy inbetween my trips every year since it opened. (Which hey it can happen stuff changes all the time lol) It would of had to happen between 12/2012(week it opened), 12/2013, 11/2014, and 10/2015. Those are all my trips that I went to BOG and some trips even more than once we were at BOG as a party of 2. I think it was a mistaken CM or one making up a policy that didn't exist, or something temporary. :)

That would be my guess a CM that was new or one that misunderstood the rules etc. That would of aggravated me too. ;)

You shouldn't need to... isn't that why Disney has all these great inclusive features like transportation, fastpass, etc

My Disney cruises cost 2x as my wdw vacations and take a fraction of the planning... because they actually take care f things.

Discovery cove you pay to not face crowds...
KSC all I had to do was decide if I wanted to do tours...
I never had to worry about what events were happening at uni...

Wdw is harder than anything else around,... and that's not a good thing... and certainly not suggesting that customers deserve to lose if they have properly "invested". Maybe Disney should stop making it such a fing circus where you need to be dodging mines left and right

Ships are big, but not nearly as big as WDW. Aside from picking some shore excursions and dinner options, I wouldn't expect to plan much.

Now, leaving your hotel and moving between multiple theme parks on one of the busiest weekends of the year requires some planning. At least my common sense says so, but I also don't like having to rely on others.

Like I said, I feel awful for the OP. They missed out on the biggest reason for their trip.

I had a few unmagical moment during my last trip. I pouted inside momentarily, and made a decision that I wouldn't let it wreck our time.
I will definitely not waste precious vacation time standing in line at guest services or my hotel's front desk. Sometimes every moment may not always be perfect..but the overall vacation can still be near perfect.

It's all about your mindset, and ability to just "shake it off".

Yeah, well having access to open the hotel room door is kind of important enough to stand in the lobby while waiting for a fix. A fix that took two freaking days.

Th

That's life. How is Disney supposed portray their parks? Hell, McDonalds says their burgers are the best you'll ever have and we know that is not true. Sometimes things don't go as planned. You can roll with it or complain and let it ruin your vacation because you couldn't get on your favorite ride within a wait time that is acceptable to you.

Who said anything about ride times? Your argument is getting more ridiculous with each post.

I guess when it come down to it somebody who is new to Disney can be caught off guard by different events they did not about in advance and yes it may cause a small inconvenience but when you take this thread from the beginning the OP is an annual pass holder whose only other post eludes that he is at the parks often: "What I always thought would be a good perk was to make the AP fast passes to where you don't have to schedule them. I know it can be done as when a ride breaks or when you go to a DVC meeting they give you fast passes that don't have to be planned. You can use them on the fly. Not saying give us more, but give us that. We spend the most time and money in the parks. Just help us enjoy the parks at a quicker pace than a tourist."

If your a Disney vet or even if you have been there a hand full of times then you know when you need to leave to be somewhere at a certain time and you know the signs to look for to see if an event is going on. To say Disney is to blame for it being your "wosrt yime" ever or making you feel "second class" is a little over the top.

It was an example of something that people complain about and expect to be compensated. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I guess mine is not the same as yours so it is ridiculous.

We weren't allowed to dine because there were only 2 of us. Well guess what? There are a lot of parties of 2 that go to the parks. Enough people complained and now it's changed.

Really?? So, if I understand correctly, every party should be treated the same regardless of the size?

Yes? Is this a real question?

Yes it is a real question. So by that logic, when we went a few years ago with two other families, our party of 14 should have expected to be seated in the same time frame as a party of 2 or 4. Otherwise, we would be treated unfairly. If you really want to extend this out, the single rider lines are treating my party of four unfairly. How come the smaller party of one gets to ride sooner than we are. That is being treated unfairly! My point is that there are always exceptions and the reaction to complain every time there is a perception of being treated "unfairly" is a sad reflection of the age of entitlement in which some people live in these days.
