The portrait section is not in the actual ride at Disneyland because the attraction was supposed to be a walk-through.

Had no idea Lincoln was closed.
I know. Just stating my preference for the WDW version. I'm currently hanging out in Toontown and took TONS of pictures because we just don't know how long it'll last considering the Star Wars rumor so look forward to those later. I still think they should move Roger Rabbit to DHS if it closes and give us a bigger and better Toontown in WDW.

Lincoln is closed till Monday for cast meetings or something. About Mansion, we'll just have to agree to disagree. I prefer seeing the Portrait Hallway on the ride along with the Library, Conservatory, and Stairway scenes. Without them the ride felt rushed.

MK's HM is also far more polished from a lighting and audio perspective (not even including the soundsound in the stretching room). Other than Splash and ToT, that's where I draw the line at WDW's superiority.

What's odd is that the rest of DLR's dark rides have really good audio mixes and lighting. Not sure why I always find HM there a bit off.

As you can see I got the first row and absolutely LOVED IT!!!!!! New favorite Disney ride!!!!!!! :D The sets and effects are outstanding, especially the Boulder room!!!! Can't wait for my next ride on it!!!!!!!!! :D

One downside. The bamboo pole in the queue didn't work :(

Very nice set of photos here Mike from 'Indiana Jones Adventure'.
Some nice shots there, particularly of the truck and overall view of the Temple and forecourt outside.

Regarding the bamboo pole -
Try it again when you NEXT ride.
It sometimes takes some time to reset.
Someone probably pulled it before you came along, and it does not always 'fire' off.
You also have to pull it REALLY hard. Just 'tugging' it is not enough.

Something to look forward to next time !
:)

Blasphemy! The ride is not the whole experience. The brilliance of Disneyland's Haunted Mansion is that your tour group emerges into a long hallway leading into the unknown while the Ghost Host narration continues. WDW doesn't have this at all and completely misses the point with their little ride-through version of the DL hallway, which caused the dismantling of a classic unique scene.

Now across the Rivers of America to Frontierland for Big Thunder Mountain.

Loved the explosion effects. I think the MK version is a bit longer but I'm not sure. If/when we get the new effects I think we'll have the superior version of this ride.

Nice photo there Mike, with the train. Lookin' good!
I'm a big 'Thunder Mountain' fan so photography like this is something i can appreciate.
Last visit i shot a lot of photos of just this area.

While i tend to try to avoid 'comparing' the Parks and Attractions with each other between the two coasts, i cannot help but add some comments on something you mentioned.

I have to somewhat disagree with you regarding WDWs 'Big Thunder Mountain'.
Even if it eventually recieves the recent upgrades in the final lift tunnel that Disneyland's version now has, i would not consider it the more superior of the two.
I would still give DLR's 'original' the upper hand for overall experience.
Most certainly.

Why you may ask?
The queue.

Absolutely stunning and a lot more entertaining then WDWs....regardless of the East Coasts' 'interactive' elements that were added a couple of years ago.
I know it comes down to personal taste, but i feel like i am in the middle of the action when waiting in line at BTMR at Disneyland, but very removed from the action up above it all at WDW.

The difference was something i noticed and i liked the dynamics better in California.
The layout of the queue there i really like a lot.
Adds a lot to the experience and gives you a lot of eye candy to enjoy while waiting.

WDW's queue you are kind of removed from the action and feel like a herd of cattle waiting in a 'barn' while you look out from above towards the distance at what is happening away from you.
At Disneyland all the action is around you ..completely surrounding you...which creates a great dynamic atmosphere.
You are already right in the middle of the action even before getting to the loading platform.
I LOVE that aspect of the design !

I'm a big fan of both versions of this Attraction on both coasts, but i personally give DLR's the top spot of the two.
Now...i just need to get over to Disneyland Paris..and ride THAT version...and ride the truly great version.
One of these days...
;)

While i do tend to lean more towards WDW's version, i will confess that i really enjoy lingering around in that hallway at Disneyland's 'Mansion' quite a bit.
Nice to be able to let the masses rush ahead to the loading area while i remain behind.
Between the crowd surges exiting from the pre-show, you can linger and enjoy the area all to yourself...with no one else around.

Have done this several times...just me and the portraits..and the atmosphere.
Really enjoy that at Disneyland's 'Mansion'.

I've been on it twice in DL and I would have to side with Mike that WDW is superior. The DL version just feels very rushed to me when compared to WDW. You're just going to have to agree to disagree let's not hijack his thread.

Oh, for sure. Your opinion is valid. I just thought it'd be nice to bring up haha.

It is irritating that soon we may have to go to Tokyo to go on Roger Rabbit.

Roger Rabbit is one of the few post-1969 attractions I count among my favorites at Disneyland. Seriously. I realize it isn't among their greatest attractions, but I just love the experience of the queue line and seeing the characters from my favorite Disney movie. That said, I understand why Disney would have no problem getting rid of it. I'm fearing the worst.

Hey!
So, I was walking around Disneyland and I heard someone talking about this forum, while in line. I decided to come on and say that this is my first time here, in Disneyland, too! Mike S I hope you're having as much fun as me! Although, I have to say, I do prefer Disney World to here. Guess I'm just a little home sick :p

First up is Pinocchio's Daring Journey.

This was a pretty good ride. I especially liked the part on Pleasure Island. This ride really would fit in well at Storybook Circus in MK. All they would have to do is get rid of the M&G that isn't that popular anyway.

Snow White really was inferior to the WDW version. Also I didn't see the projection mapping effect that I've seen in videos of the ride. I really wish we still had our version in MK. It would've been the perfect compliment to SDMT.
