Man falls in accident at DL TOT

Supposedly he was drinking.

Just goes to show you that drinks at parks probably isn't a good idea. Especially in parks that have places where you can fall 25 feet

It's hardly an accident if someone willingly crosses over a safety barrier and then falls. That is just natural selection at work.

Seriously though, if the guy was drinking DL has a bigger problem on their hands since the guy was only 20.

Not familiar with ToT at all but I don't think he crossed over and purposely jumped. Someone would have grabbed him. He probably trippedand fell because there was no railing on the lower part.

"The guest was standing in line with friends on a second-floor platform when he climbed over a barrier to the area below and lost his balance and fell approximately 25 feet," Disneyland spokeswoman Suzi Brown said in a statement.

Definitely not an accident.

I'm trying to remember back 3 years to my last trip to DL and it's not working... where in the queue is there a 25 foot drop?

Somehow I doubt that story. Why would he climb a railing only to inevitably fall? What was he trying to do?

Either he's really stupid and all of his friends were too hammered or the story was wrong.

I bet either are a strong possbility.

What? Did you read the story? Of course it has a railing...you think they have a ledge at Disney with a 25-foot dropoff and no railing? LOL. And you can't assume someone would grab him either.

"The man was in the building housing the queue for the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, when he put his leg over the railing and fell, Martinez said."

some how he will try to sue, he will also some how win. They will have to install a full hight fence instead of a railing. Ticket prices will continue do to these frivolous lawsuits, and it will be to expensive for anyone to go to disney anymore, hence ending the walt disney companies existence..Good thing for museums! I sure love this sue happy over protective over reacting country!

People really are that stupid. I don't find it that hard to believe. Pretty much all the news outlets are reporting it as him being a complete idiot.

Authorities said a man suffered minor injuries after falling 25 feet on the Tower of Terror ride at Disney's California Adventure.
Officials said alcohol might have been involved. The man, 20, was seen leaning over the railing as he waited in line for the ride, police said.
The fall was reported at about 10:30 p.m. The man was transported to UCI Medical Center and released.
Sgt. Rick Martinez told the LA Times the man placed a leg over the railing and joked about the "possibility of someone falling over." Martinez said he lost his balance and fell.

Disneyland Resort released a statement Thursday: "Last night a 20-year-old male guest fell in the queue line at the Tower of Terror attraction at Disney California Adventure. The guest was standing in line with friends on a second-floor platform when he climbed over a barrier to the area below and lost his balance and fell approximately 25 feet. The guest was transported by ambulance to the hospital. We understand his injuries were minor and he has been treated and released."
The Tower of Terror, which rises more than 180 feet, is described as a haunted elevator ride through an elegant hotel.

You haven't been around long enough to see how stupid people can be, have you. Anything is possible in this world...I don't doubt the story for a second.

It's absurd to me that this becomes national news only b/c it happened at a Disney park. People make bad decisions at county fairs all the time, and it barely gets mentioned in the local news.

As for those of you having trouble figuring out what happened, in DCA, you load into your elevator on one of two levels. They don't have the 5th dimension room to increase ride capacity, so each drop shaft receives elevators from two different levels. While one is loading, the other is going through the ride program. He was on the upper level and fell off.

At DCA, each shaft in TOT has two cars and two load levels, an upper and a lower. The upper load level is where the drop is at.

I couldn't find a picture of DCA's upper load level doing a quick Google search, but I did find one for the TOT at WDS in Paris. Their layouts are very similar.

Look at this set-up! How is Disney not responsible. Anyone can topple right over that railing...it hardly goes to the ceiling
