Man Accused of Stealing Buzzy's Clothing from Disney World Arrested

From that sentinel article:

"authorities said, acknowledging they are investigating the theft of $500,000 worth of items."

I was in the camp that Spikes would just get slapped with fines and Probation for the HM stuff.

But if he gets charged for 500,000k worth of stuff????

Yikes!

Wouldn’t that be referring to the ride vehicle theft though?

"Brett Finley, a certified public accountant from Winter Park"

Ahhh, there's the link. Mr Finley was identified in the Spike's paperwork as one of the people sending him money via paypal.

"The handmade Buzzy animatronic itself, valued at $400,000, also was missing, investigators said, from the audio released last week."

As if there needs to be more cites on that point :)

Clearly Mr Spikes was in for alot more than just Buzzy action. Makes you wonder how many other people are doing the same...

There's probably a lot CM in this racket. They just aren't broadcasting every move with meta data

And I said it before but I'll say it again: I don't believe Finley either. Finley totally knew this was all stolen. He's sitting Patrick under the bus in hopes to save himself. It might work and that frustrates me.
Like really everyone. Think about it. Imagine if I came to you saying "I have this authentic painting from Leonardo Da Vinci. It's the Mona Lisa. He made five copies. His family gave me one as a gift. I want [insert absurd price]. By the way, ignore the headlines that the Mona Lisa has been stolen. I have insiders who know that the Louvre just misplaced it so they can have an excuse to search and arrest me."
Would you buy that painting?

Brett Finley isn't a victim. He conspired with Spikes to sell and profit off of stolen Disney items in the black market. The stuff they found on Finley was just waiting to be sold. And I'm pretty certain we will soon see evidence of collusion between the two.

No, from the arrest affidavit too. Finley didn't store the dress at his house. And he met Spikes in a parking lot to buy it. Does this not set off red flags to you? Does it not seem illogical to you that Finley, a Club 33 member and avid Disney fan, wasn't aware Buzzy was stolen and by total coincidence bought this "super rare Buzzy... look alike?" from a very questionable source? It makes absolutely no sense. Finley knew what he was doing.
Also, Finley turned over 18 items according to the affidavit. Is that not extremely suspicious to you? The article also references Finley's attorney.... Hmm.. I wonder why he has one.

I'm speaking to your claims "He conspired with Spikes to sell and profit off of stolen Disney items in the black market. The stuff they found on Finley was just waiting to be sold. And I'm pretty certain we will soon see evidence of collusion between the two"

I buy stuff from people in parking lots all the time... it's what happens when people don't have retail and don't want individuals going through their home. If Finley knew it was stolen or grey market... I won't assume. It sure does sound like he's relying on plausible deniability. Remember tho, most Disney stuff is sold via 3rd parties or second hand. There are 10 million dollar collections auctioned off, etc... they didn't get the stuff at "Disney Off 5th". The path is often story based and involving multiple parties.

I suppose you're right regarding that but let's be real. Buzzy being stolen was big news in Disney circles. And this avid Disney fan was not only unaware of Buzzy being stolen, but also purchased what appeared to be an authentic Buzzy? I find that extremely difficult to believe.

"unknowingly?" What a joke. I don't care if he's a Disney fan. If anything, that makes it even MORE likely he knows it's contraband.
The other guy hid his HM dress at his mother's house according to the affidavit. This is all speculation, but I feel like if this guy believed he bought the clothes on the level he would have shared it on Social Media before the Missing Buzzy story broke out.
