WESH Orlando also showed a part of the video where the guy is having "breathing" problems after being wrestled to the ground by the detectives. Paramedics had to be called.

This guy is a real con with an attitude, i wonder how well he knew best way to get out of there and contact someone was to get sent to a hospital. Wonder if that is why he wanted to call his mom, code for i need to destroy evidence

But like Spikes said... if you see a photo of an inside of a BMW... what makes that my BMW? Need something more unique. The car photos they released are pretty bland in terms of identifying the car.

I don't know. Most hourly CMs are scraping by and probably not driving BMWs purchased by their rich parents. So if the photos of Buzzy's jacket match Spike's car... that's just one heck of a coincidence.

I understand that would be hard to bring up in a trial. That's why I am curious about other phones, that may feature past stolen items.

Am i bad in hoping they find this guy guilty for not only the present crime but also for the theft in Epcot and that he has to pay for it in jail? maybe when he walsk out he will have a different attitude

He's obviously never had to deal with actual consequences before. He broke the law...he should be punished for it. Mom and dad need to stop fixing all his crap or he'll never change. (He may not anyway, but 24 is pretty young, so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.)

Yeah, but you can't use lines like that to justify a search. 'matching the description' means they are compatible, but is a far stretch from 'likely the same'. Which is why the police could stop you for matching a description to investigate, but can't search you based on that alone.

We don't have those photos shown (to my knowledge) so hard to analyze what they showed there... but Spike's line of defense there isn't 'bad' per say.. The cops are trying to fish there trying to get him to spill details or admit to stuff.

For just the Haunted Mansion it's more likely he's looking at a Hefty fine and Probation.

Who's to say what happens if he gets anymore charges brought against him for other thefts of Disney Props.

And then of course there's Buzzy. If he did take him, Buzzy is programmed to perform "Robot Revenge".

I hope they find Buzzy, only real hope is that he kept records somewhere of his sell or that they find a storage somewhere. Of course the buyer can step out and turn it in like some of his other clients have been doing

In that full video they say he is not arrested or detained and is free to leave. Why, then, is it okay for them to tackle him when he attempts to leave and reaches for his phone?

If they weren't going to let him contact someone before.. getting EMS and sent to the ER isn't going to change that. The guy was still able to make his own decisions, etc.

I'm struggling right now to find the bits on the timeline of when they managed to search his residence, etc. It seems they got the warrant for the phone search the day after the interview.

Two different scenarios.

He wasn't being detained at that point.. which is why when he said he wanted to leave they said 'ok'

BUT they were going to seize the phone, which is why even when they said he could leave, he had to leave the phone.. and when he went for the phone in response to that.. that's when the situation changed, and they were trying to prevent him from doing anything with the phone. The tackling was to 'protect the evidence' if you want to simplify it... Then, they switch to detaining him, which is a temporary state they can use while investigating if he should be arrested or not. The struggle was then grounds for them arresting him and charging him with his first charge (which they later dropped).

The first rule in dealing with the police is not to talk to them without a lawyer. That said the police better have more proof that the car was his than just one photo. They probably have a picture of his license plate and can prove the time, date and place it was taken. He also is in trouble if they found his other phone because they told him they have proof his phone number was where the pictures on the internet came from. He is in big trouble.

so he is being refered to by people on the net as backdoordisney, does the site belong to him or belong to him previously? is that why they refer to him as that? i glanced at the twitter page for that site and i was shocked at how many pictures of backstage areas are there. one photo shows figment animatronic in what looks like an office

Did they have a warrant to detain his phone at that point? (I honestly don't know).

Also, this should be a lesson for everyone - there's no reason to not have your phone secured with passcodes/touch/face ID at all times.

It's his account. Supposedly a friend is running it for him at this point. They'd better hope they don't get caught by the boss.

They didn't actually have proof that it was his car other than it was the same make/model/color. They were trying to intimidate him.

No, they secured the warrant the next day. But they can seize the phone before they have the warrant if they are trying to protect the evidence from being tampered with.

He no longer runs BackDoorDisney, someone else does now and they only rely on previous posted photos and submissions now, no illegal trespassing. They don’t work for Disney. Other people are submitting the pics. The Figment photo is from a collector’s personal collection who owns it. It’s not on Disney property anywhere.

One of BackDoorDisney's latest tweets was a photo of the Costume Storage.
