Man Accused of Stealing Buzzy's Clothing from Disney World Arrested

I demonstrated that it is a textbook example of a fallacy -- right down to the exact form that the argument takes -- and you're trying to deny it... that's rich! :joyfull:

Journalists don't tend to make arguments like that, because
1. Philosophy 101 is a required course for most liberal arts majors,
2. Fallacies are covered extensively in English classes.
But it's weird how you have nothing to say about Hoot Gibson or anyone else just making claims without any evidence that Buzzy was never stolen. Or was removed as a set up to question and search spikes phone.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: maybe ya'll should wait for this to play out in a court of law

So, police reports automatically carry unassailable credibility?

What possible reason would the police have for not being honest about this situation. Saying that they cannot solve the crime is detrimental to their reputation not reacting to a false report. If they didn't have a report of a theft, they wouldn't even mention it. If anyone is lying in this it would be Disney and they don't have any reason to either. Maybe Buzzy just got tired of having people stealing his clothes and sitting in the dark and left on his own. On top of that who, or better yet, why does anyone other then Disney give a damn about it anyway. It's like having an imaginary friend that is made up of wires, hydraulic lines, plastic and metal nuts and bolts. Seriously, 60 pages on this is scary.

By the way, if Disney did have him, by now he is in a new skin and will be incorporated as an alien somewhere near Galaxy's Edge! The body is never going to be found with this one and unless there is a way to extract some DNA from a robot, it will never be found.

So, is your argument that, in most cases, anonymous Internet forum posters are more credible than police reports? Because that’s what’s at issue in the argument that I’m reading.
No. My argument is that you can't blindly accept police reports as factual, especially with vague wording -- like "we learned that..." -- about crimes.

As I've said, my jury is out until something more concrete than "somebody said something" becomes public.

I've read these forums from time to time for a while without registering. I pursue several niche interests to various depths, and wish I had more time to spend on all of them. Disney parks have long been one of them but I've never quite jumped in with others. Our goofy friend finally jolted me into a comment, after all this time.

There are few things more obnoxious or silly in my eyes than being an obviously deeply invested member of an arcane group, like these forums, and sneering at others about how irrational it is that they care about such-and-such. It's like some kind of dweeby power play. "Well, you weirdos are free to be so deeply invested in _________ if you have to be. Me, I've got bigger fish to fry." It has the air of a fifth grader caught by the "cool kids" among the nerds and desperately justifying himself.

Well, I've got news. We're all mad here, as the Cheshire Cat says, at least a bit. No points for being above it all, especially not after dozens of comments in this thread you profess to care about so little. Who are you trying to impress, and who do you think you’re fooling? It's not working. Stop wasting our time.

Bless you for trying, but he's ignored all our previous attempts.

Is this within Mom's jurisdiction or do we all just have to smash that ignore button?

FYI - a couple of new public documents have been posted (as of August 26, 2019) outlining the charges. There are five counts against Spikes and three against Taunton. The original file for Spikes has been consolidated with another case number and appears to be assigned to another judge [the screenshot below is from the closed file, the active one doesn't have much up yet]. Taunton has an arraignment Hearing set for September 19 (where a defendant is formally advised of the charges against them and asked to enter a plea), he previously entered a written not guilty plea and waived personal appearance at an arraignment.

So, not a lot of new news, but still shows that the cases are continuing to be pursued.
