Fire drills are wonderful in a boring class. Not so great in fun classes.ooh.. fire drills. In high school we had a rash of them in a row. Some prankster would pull them at the same time every day for a week until they were caught. And it was in the middle of winter too. We all got pretty annoyed at trudging out in the snow day after day... But otherwise fire drills are a great use of time in school. :animwink:

Probably very dangerous for the Foods class -- your bread could catch on fire if it were in there too long!
Luckily, my Foods class is during a lunch period, so we will not be evacuated, unless of course, it was a true emergency.
I hear you there. The only bummer is that I can't take half the courses I want since they're held during the day. I don't think work would treat me kindly if I took off to learn Japanese on their time.![]()
We didn't make bread yet. I was just using an example.Foods class? Were you making bread? how did it go? That's my next project at home.

are you really thinking of taking Japanese? NO WAY! LOL i am SOOO all about that... hahahaha... i've been saying for years I want to learn the language entirely. lol That was one of the first things I wrote down that i want to take! lol

Foods is Home Ec, with a more culinary twist.

Eh...it's good to know how to cook, but I highly doubt that I'll make a career out of it.Funny... i can totally picture you as a chef Freddy. LOL You've got the personality for a job like that.![]()
My Spanish teacher last year (who was awesome, and I loved), lived in Japan for a while, during college. She loved it, and had some very interesting stories.I know bit and pieces of the language, but almost no grammar. Mostly nouns. My best friend spent 8 months in Japan in college. I was Sooooo jealous. I couldn't afford it. But one day I'll get over there.
How about you?
Nothing. But we are making muffins on Monday.Aw man. I'm making Foccacia next weekend. I've never worked with yeast before. Should be interesting!![]()
What have you made so far?
That's what my mom and sister had. My brother took Woods, and I have no idea of what my dad took. :lol:I remember Home Ec. but that was when it was sewing the first part of the yr and cooking simple things at the end of the yr. That was also many many moons ago.

We've only been going over safety stuff so far. Tomorrow we have to clean the "kitchens" (basically the corners of the room with an oven, microwave, etc.) They haven't been cleaned since June!
Friday she is going to demonstrate how to use the kitchen. Like we can't figure it out.![]()

That's basically what we're going to do! :lol:Muffins! Use the muffin method! Dry goods go in one bowl, mix. Wet goods go in another, mix. Then dump the wet on the dry and only stir 10 times. It'll be lumpy but it'll all turn out well in the end. If you overmix you'll end up with cupcake-like crumbs. Not a true muffin at all.
And that's awful that they're using you guys to clean up the kitchens! Don't they have someone to do that?
