Trip Report Makin' Memories....One More Time! *COMPLETED*

Makin' memories
Makin' memories
Takin' pictures is makin' memories
Catchin' little pieces of time
Makin' them yours and makin' them mine
Great vacations and celebrations we love to hold near and dear
And when we're makin' memories
Happy days can reappear!

@amjt660 it seemed a little presumptuous of me to include Three Peat in the title of this trip report. A more accurate term might be Repeat, considering this is my third TR in three months. I am fearful that my WDWMagic friends may be weary of me.

But for @Big Hair and anyone else who wants to follow along, Welcome! I truly love reliving our great (and not-so-great) vacation memories through writing these reports. As always, your comments and observations are much appreciated!

So c'mon everybody, here we go........

Cast: Tuvalu, Woody and Em
Dates: June 17-25, 2017
Resorts: Port Orleans Riverside and Polynesian Village ('cause let's be honest......you can take the girl out of the Poly, but you can't take the Poly out of the girl!)

(Does this picture make you woozy? It is an appropriate representation of my Pandora experience.)

Stick around to discover what memories we made!

We left the Cali Grill in a food coma. Seriously.

The elevator drops off diners on the second floor of the Contemporary (where the CG check in desk is located.) To reach the monorail, we had to ride the escalator up. The escalator practically deposited us into BVG, one of our fave gift stores. Of course we had to check it out!

Our only purchase?
IMG_4668.JPG

Monorail socks for middle son. He loves the Contemporary. And the monorail.

Speaking of the monorail, we were the first ones in our car on our way back to the Poly. A woman, her husband and two young children soon joined us.

As the monorail began to move she cried out frantically, "This monorail is going the wrong way! We want to go that way!" (pointing towards the MK)

Woody calmly assured her that our monorail would indeed go to the MK, but it was 4 stops away. When we disembarked at the Poly he reminded her, "Two more stops."

She thanked him.

The evening was cloudy as we went to watch HEA from the Poly beach. Far off in the distance we could see faint lightning flashes, but there was no thunder nor rain. We were puzzled when 9 pm came and the show didn't start. Though the soundtrack to HEA is piped onto the beach, any park announcements are not.

"Let's wait 15 minutes in case the fireworks have been delayed," Em suggested. (Proof that this new show was beginning to tug at her heartstrings.)

Fifteen minutes passed. No HEA. We may have waited longer if the elapsed time wasn't cutting in to Em's sleep time. She sadly turned around to return to our room. Woody and I followed.

BEST. DECISION. EVER.

Barely a minute after we opened the door there was a thunderous BOOM and a violent storm began. It truly was a surprise and probably a very unpleasant one to those still waiting on the beach (or worse on Main Street!) @ajrwdwgirl can attest to this storm, as she and her hubby were in Cali Grill when it began (details in her TR.)
(Once again Amy, so close and yet so far! :banghead:)

The storm gave Woody and me an excuse to go to bed early too. Though we had no intentions of getting up to see Em off at 3 o'clock in the morning!

That's my biggest fear (if you can call it that). We haven't seen the movie and don't know a thing about the premise. (Kind of like the whole star wars thing. I vaguely remember seeing the first tow movies when they came out in theaters. All the subsequent ones with all the other characters are lost on me). I did however watch a youtube vid of the "river" ride and am mildly interested but not to the extent that I would wait in a long line. Possibly a fast pass.
Fastpass. Definitely fastpass. ;)

WHAT!! FRITTERS OFF THE MENU!!

I've had my CG meal picked out for months and that is the desert I have to have!! Do I need Shirley status or can I just beg for them?
Even my Shirley status didn't help me in July. Our server even rolled his eyes over the (poor) decision to remove the fritters. Perhaps by September they'll be back for you? < crosses fingers >

It's interesting that the days we are later leaving our room mousekeeping are always waiting for us to leave and when we want a rest in the afternoon room not ready . Go figure!!
Isn't that always the way!

Yessss that cupcake is SO good!! We had one for our anniversary meal back in March, and I got to eat it all because hubby was too full! Mwahaha!
Need to figure out a way to celebrate more "anniversaries".........:joyfull:

sorry that Em missed her "second favorite" ;) fireworks show, but a good thing you left when you did. Our family was not as lucky that evening. :in pain:

I am so jealous of the Welcome Back card at the table! I want one!! Is that new? Happy belated anniversary btw.
Several Disney restaurants have been providing Welcome Back cards to repeat diners for a year or so.
And thanks!

So you were there on June 24th too? ;) :D

Yes, the storm was bad. :( By the way I own a pair of those monorail socks as well. I like to wear them to work, I tell hubby it helps speed up the week. Yeah, I'm a dork, I know.;)

I can see and hear Woody calmly bringing the other guest back down from the tree that she had worked herself up with a calm and reassuring voice.
(I've never met him but I can picture it clearly in my mind)

Helping others - especially at Disney - is a wonderful feeling

Happy Random Act of Kindness day to Woody!!

(and yes this is a real thing but the day was actually Feb 17th this year- Woody is just getting ready for next year)

Sunday, June 25

Ever wonder what the Poly lobby looks like in the middle of the night?

Em took these pictures on her way to her 3:20 am Tragical Express ~ and she wasn't the only one who boarded at the Poly.

What surprised her more were the guests getting dropped off at that ungodly hour.

But at least they were beginning their vacation!

Buh-Bye, Em!

International travelers perhaps? I wonder if they had their room ready? Not like they could drop off their bags and go to the parks....

When I stay at a hotel, I always leave the Do Not Disturb sign on the door so housekeeping doesn't have to come. Only if I'm by myself. I'm a good little environmentalist like that. :p
