Trip Report Makin' Memories....One More Time! *COMPLETED*

Makin' memories
Makin' memories
Takin' pictures is makin' memories
Catchin' little pieces of time
Makin' them yours and makin' them mine
Great vacations and celebrations we love to hold near and dear
And when we're makin' memories
Happy days can reappear!

@amjt660 it seemed a little presumptuous of me to include Three Peat in the title of this trip report. A more accurate term might be Repeat, considering this is my third TR in three months. I am fearful that my WDWMagic friends may be weary of me.

But for @Big Hair and anyone else who wants to follow along, Welcome! I truly love reliving our great (and not-so-great) vacation memories through writing these reports. As always, your comments and observations are much appreciated!

So c'mon everybody, here we go........

Cast: Tuvalu, Woody and Em
Dates: June 17-25, 2017
Resorts: Port Orleans Riverside and Polynesian Village ('cause let's be honest......you can take the girl out of the Poly, but you can't take the Poly out of the girl!)

(Does this picture make you woozy? It is an appropriate representation of my Pandora experience.)

Stick around to discover what memories we made!

This is where I had my big chance & I blew it:(...
We had reservations at 7:00 at Ohana. We arrived about 6:30 and had a drink in the Tambu Lounge while we were waiting. We're sitting at the bar and I get up to take some pictures. I take a picture of the Ohana sign and turn to my left. I see Woody(he's facing my direction) and you & Em are there but your backs are to me. I've read your trip reports over the years(they're all great) but I'm one of those ones who never comments. (Well, this day taught me a valuable lesson to start commenting on peoples reports so I can somewhat introduce myself & get acquainted.) I actually felt myself putting a step forward like I was going to approach you & your family to say hello. I stopped dead in my tracks & said to myself "Patti, get a grip. 1-You're approaching people who have no clue who you are(even though I feel like I know you) & they may find you a bit creepy for it. 2-I was there with my niece & my boyfriend(this is only his 2nd time at Disney-1st was 20 years ago). My boyfriend is no where near the Disney fan that I am & doesn't know that wdwmagic even exists. Had he seen me approach you & then I had to explain to him how I "knew" you he would have been on the next flight back to Pittsburgh!!
Anyways, I spent the rest of the evening kicking myself. Had I finished my Lapu Lapu as opposed to just starting it I may have had the courage to say hello!! I have a few more trips lined up this year so hopefully I'll see you again & say hello!!
Hello @riverside, I'm Tuvalu ~ and now we are acquainted.

I completely get your reluctance to approach us in fear of what your boyfriend or niece might think. "Online Disney friends" sounds crazy to most people. When I saw @Tony the Tigger at DHS and called out to him, I was with my dad and struggled to explain "how" I knew Tony. Same when I met @samantha788 and I was with my mom.

Obviously I have no fear of approaching perfect strangers in WDW (the now-infamous cotton candy incident ;)) but understand that others might. I am always happy to meet fellow wdwmagic-ers and I hope if our paths cross again you will say hi.....after all we're friends now!

The extra-long Pandora exit deposited us very close to our next FP.

Em is dressed very appropriately for our Safari. Can you see why?

She was the photog for our journey.

I love this shot.

African dogs = ugly

Our jeep was pretty far from where the giraffes congregate when I noticed two giraffes off by themselves in the open field. Typically the giraffes are noshing under trees or hiding themselves in the thick brush. This seemed unusual to me and when our jeep got closer.....my suspicion was confirmed.;)

Our Safari got even more exciting (so to speak) when we saw that THE MANDRILLS WERE OUT!!!!! Baby is hiding under the trees....can you see him?

Little Red at the elephant pool?

Mr. Rhino blocked our way for a bit.

Such a silly looking animal!

We were pleased with the animal sightings this trip!

Hello friend!!
If our paths cross again I will be sure to say hello! Funny thing is I can picture what the shocked look on my boyfriends face would have been had I introduced myself. Then I would have got the eye roll as I explained it to him.... I hope your parents took it ok!!
The cotton candy incident was hysterical. I wouldn't have wanted to pay for a bag of that....my younger nieces & nephews look at me funny when I refer to it as "sugar in a bag".
I hope our paths cross again!!

They have chicken fingers on the kids menu. Problem solved!

I'm a huge fan of TC, and the only reason I tried it was because I find something for both of my picky kids there.
I was fully expecting a dried up bootleg version of a gyro, but I was blown away! Everything I had was fresh and delicious!
You've gotta go, girl!

YES! This is great news! Now maybe I can convince her :)

@Tuvalu, how many WDWMagic meetings have you had over the years? I think I remember reading about at least 3 or 4. I have to admit, meeting up with you is now on my Disney Bucket List!!! :)

OMG can you pleaseeee talk to my Mom? :p Its definitely not too exotic for me :) I have never eaten there because my Mom is beyond picky and insists she hates all these things even though she has never tried them. She LOVES chick peas and refuses to try hummus :joyfull: Next time I go to Disney with my Dad (likely next year) we will definitely try it out because he always wanted to but I doubt I can ever convince my Mom

Funny lol...I despise chick peas and love hummus....it's their texture that I can't stand lol

I have met 9 fellow WDWMagic-ers....only 3 were planned in advance.
@Doc Disney and I have met 3 times....twice by fate and once planned.
Hope I can add @DisneyJeff to my list!

Em was hungry.
My stomach was rumbly.
"I can eat," Woody said.

An early lunch was in order. We saw that Flame Tree BBQ opened at 10:45 am. We joined the short line at 10:40 am.

At 11 am (and with a long line of guests now behind us) Flame Tree looked like this:
IMG_8767.JPG

"HELL-O, IS ANYBODY WORKING HERE TODAY?!!"

A few moments later CMs began sauntering over to the registers. Others slowly rolled up the shutters.

"SO NICE OF YOU TO FINALLY SHOW UP!"

(Okay, so no one actually said those things but trust me, we were all thinking it!)

By the time we had our food it was almost 11:30 am. We'd waited 45 minutes for a quick service lunch and we were only 4th in line.

We chose to sit in the eagle vs. snake pavilion. You do know that the theme of Flame Tree BBQ is predator vs. prey, don't you? And that each seating pavilion has a different theme?

Well now you do.

Eagle for the win!

The food was fresh and flavorful. Em chose the half chicken, Woody the turkey sandwich and pulled pork sandwich for me. Plus an unexpected treat ~ 3 bags of purse grapes!!
IMG_4647.JPG

(Well one bag didn't make it into the purse. I ate it. :D)

Lunch finished, we were ready to get our pool on. I stopped by Guest Relations on our way out to get a replacement Tables in Wonderland card (my 3rd this year.) None of the QS restaurants have been able to read my card. I had the same issue in February. All the CMs complain about the poor quality of the TiW card stock. If you order TiW at least a month before your vacation, you are mailed a plastic TiW card (like a credit card or Disney ticket.) But if you purchase TiW on site, you are given a paper card.

Apparently it must be cheaper to print several paper replacement cards than ONE plastic card.

The Poly bus was just pulling in as we reached the stop. Our delight was short-lived when we ended up waiting over 20 minutes for the next-shift driver. "I overslept," was his excuse to the driver waiting to be relieved. Add the 20 minutes back to the Poly and it was a long ordeal.

Our bad luck continued when we opened our door to an unmade room. Every other day this week our room has been made up before lunch. Em and I hurriedly put on our swimsuits. Woody decided to stay out of the sun and took a book to the lounge. Thankfully the mousekeeper came sometime during the two hours we were out of the room.
