Major Room Discounts Coming for Early Summer and Late Spring 2025

I don't know what to tell you. Families pack that park all summer to the tune of 4 million guests. You can't tell me those same families all don't go to Disney too.

Probably, but there are tons of families that go to Disney (almost certainly the large majority) that would never consider going to Cedar Point (and not just for IP reasons). I think Cedar Point mainly gets relatively local families -- there just aren't that many families travelling from other areas of the US (much less internationally) to visit. Almost everyone has heard of Disney and Universal; the average non-local person has never heard of Cedar Point.

Cedar Point doesn't even advertise nationally that I'm aware of; I've never once seen an ad for Cedar Point in Georgia or North Carolina and I'd never even heard of it until a few years ago.

A reminder: concerts, football games and broadway shows are NOT comparable to Disney park costs. No matter how many times someone tries. Cruises and European trips are “fair” in context

But to this:

Totally understand where you're coming from. But concerts and Disney theme parks aren't going to magically get cheaper.
Move on, you must.

Oh, I have moved on, but we all have times when we reminisce about our ex. ;)

Sometimes when on a cruise ship. At dinner. ;) Although I think we avoided that fairly well and kept it to conversations elsewhere.

There’s always that one…usually college…that you knew you were gonna regret later…and just walked away anyway

That does not really enter into the equation. They put BMW's on sale when they sit on the lot too long.

An empty room makes Disney $0. They will put it on sale vs. letting it sit empty.

Somewhat, for hotel occupancy there are optimal revenue curves where 100% occupancy is certainly never the goal. You’ve left money on the table when you are 100% full. 10% less people paying 15% more is preferred. Particularly since occupying rooms still have more costs than unoccupied.

It’s the whole policy of discounting to fill may not actually yield more revenue. I don’t know what the optimal occupancy for WDW is, but I suspect somewhere approaching 90%. I think the hotels were humming or perhaps even tipping over optimal in 2019. Which at the time demanded more new build cash rooms. The parks were very completely overstuffed, which is probably why park costs have escalated the most in the last 5 years.

Did you honestly think this was a good reply? Did you misunderstand this that much?
I’m still waiting for you to say something…anything…substantive.

Or do we get “that’s not the way things are…” for the 2,000th time? With no substance.

I give you the benefit of the doubt of knowing that the SEC has absolutely no idea what goes on where the sausage is made for large corporations…

Are they tracking the fuel expenses for Amazon trucks?

It takes gross impropriety and a whistleblower to get so much as an eyebrow raise.

Nobody is this naive. Disney can’t lie because of the SEC? That’s a frequent excuse for Disney on forums. It’s not a “thing”

You’re being jaded to the point of being ridiculous. No hotel with a walking path to two theme parks is $250.
wait, what?

Aventura very much fits that description.

It is well within walking distance of 2 theme parks, and regularly goes for under $250 rack. In Feb rack rate is $220. Cabana Bay is also about $220. In Jan, Aventura goes for $205, and Saphire Falls goes for $240. In Aug, Aventura goes for $205.

Imo I consider <15 mins traditional walking distance, with 20 mins pushing it and 25-30 being a little too much for it to be reasonable. I certainly don’t mind 30 and can even do an hour but at that level, most people are looking at vehicles.

Iirc Aventura is like 25 mins? Not the worst, but I don’t think most Aventura guests are walking.

There's not much in that commercial to entice me to drive multiple states to cedar point (we have an another cedar fair park nearby). We've gone to the local cedar fair park, and while it's ok, we didn't even consider going to it until DD was 10 (not worth it when she was younger/shorter).

There is some overlap audience, sure, but cedar fair parks aren't as accessible for as wide a variety of ages and abilities as Disney is.

Til the mid 2000s they did that. Since COVID this has been their advertising campaign which is aimed at families.

That’s actually a pretty good ad.

Glad to see raptor is still there though
That still shows mostly giant coaster that many families are not interested in riding.
Disagree…though they do still have like 18 coasters

But there is a midpoint between that…and a crowd that thinks mine train is a “thrill ride” 😎

It’s a regional park…though one of the highlight ones

Not supposed to want to load up the station wagon with aunt Edna on top to get there 😎

We're close enough that it's a reasonable drive, not a trek, but I get your point :). My point was just to respond to the idea of it being a family park. This ad is more family oriented, sure, but it's still not courting families with young kids or the families interested in multigenerational trips. It's serving a subset of families, some of which will overlap with Disney visitors as the PP mentioned, some of which don't.

“Family” is technically correct…but still a stretch for my purposes.

You can get a nice family trip on presque isle…if you do some things

Cedar point itself is a bit of a waste if eating bugs going high and fast isn’t your jam

Good thing there is almost continuous bus service then if you don't want to walk.
BTW it is less than 15 minutes as I have walked it many times plus I am old
Or walk next door and take a boat like the civilized people do, only heathens want to go treking down a jungle path
