I live in the southern side of Orlando and just had to run out to grab something. Within 4 miles of my house I saw 3 gas stations without any gas.

Couple have ran out in Lakeland. I'm gonna wait until 3 or 4am to make a last minute walmart run and top my tank. I'm hunkering down afterwards.

My question would be, why aren't employees stopping him? It's illegal to pump gas into open buckets.

My guess? Probably because the employees are just as amped up on breathless weather reporting over the past few days. Panic mode is fully engaged.

Or they're ambivalent. I regularly see people filling gas cans in their truck beds, which is also illegal, but the attendants don't really care.

I'm up in Tallahassee. We've got a run on gas up here.

FHP just said it will escort tankers to South Florida. 👍
Yeah, when this happens they prioritize deliveries to those areas that are likely to be evacuated which in my mind is completely appropriate. There is always a surge of excess demand leading into the storm as everyone fills there tanks on the same day. Given the current expected timeline for arrival there should be plenty of time to replenish supplies.

Because there are typically only one or two employees at a station and they likely cannot even see that this is happening. That is certainly a roadside explosion waiting to happen. Not to mention he will never get the smell of splashed gas out of that vehicle.

Someone probably stopped him and called the police. That could easily kill everyone at the station. If I saw someone doing that, i'd press the emergency stop and get the hell out.
