CM's along with others have a tendency toward drama. With the exception of the one account I heard about of a boat coming over the top of a boat ahead, which has never really been confirmed, I know of no other things about it that would make it even slightly dangerous. The water is only about a foot or so deep, with the exception of docking the sides are not in contact with anything and unless one is the Wicked Witch of the West, water splashing, no matter how much, isn't likely to hurt anyone.Wow... someone's not been keeping up around here. POTC has been in terrible shape for the last few years, and many cast members have come out and said that it was close to becoming a death trap.

Disney doesn't have a stable full of high paid lawyers to just ignore problems that could predictably lead to something being a death trap. There are hardly any moving parts, just flowing water operated by pumps that are nowhere near the rider. Forget about the Guests, it would certainly not be in the best interest of Disney to have that type of hazard hanging over them. These are the same people that put those unnecessary tiny doors on the trams.
I hope they leave him! I miss Barker Bird and this is at least something...Well.
That was a case where the injured person completely took responsibility for his actions. He had his hands outside the boat trying to see if he could reach something, if I recall. Even if he hadn't that does not a death trap make. What about the reports of a guest losing a finger? I don't know the veracity of that report but I do remember reading it. Could be guest error but I would think it would be designed to take that into account.
Just give me the ride as designed and I will keep my arms and legs inside the boat and in return I expect boats that won't maim me or soak me.

I much prefer that PoTC not soak me as well. However, it is a water ride and water is wet. There is a downhill run that hits the water and splashes. It shouldn't as much as it does, but, one should reasonably expect that if they are on a boat ride, water might become a factor.
I cannot tell you why the water situation is worse now then with the older ones, but, in all fairness, it is a front seat only problem. I sat in the middle of the first row and water went on both sides of me. If someone else had been sitting there they would have been quite wet. I agree, they have to fix that, it's not supposed to be a splash ride other then a couple of drops. As for the bottoming out, I'm not sure how that could happen no matter what the situation. Boats displace only so much water and those seem at least as wide as the old ones. I'm not even sure how they could bottom out since the only time it has any downward movement is in the drop, the rest is just floating along. The bottoming out is something that I have not personally ever experienced, so I cannot really comment on it. I sometimes wonder if it is being confused with the lift belt at the end of the ride where it comes up under the boat to bring it uphill or if the pumps are not keeping up and there is a time, occasionally, that there just isn't enough water in the flume. Just don't know. I think that one of the things that they are working on during the refurb are the pumps. There really isn't anything much else that drives that ride. The only way it can stop is if the water stops flowing.I agree that injuries are the guest's fault in the majority of cases but the change to the flimsy boats from DL is inexcusable. They need to repair these (can they put a prow on them to keep the water where it belongs?) or get the others remade and let the water be a few inches deeper to keep them from bottoming. Something must be done. You are NOT supposed to be soaked on this ride.

If they didn't bottom out they wouldn't have gone up the hill. Designed that way. Very little water and almost no boats will float uphill. The old boats definitely 'bottomed out' on the lift ramp. But that may have been more about grip and the lift than the boats.
Interactive queues certainly have their merits, but I actually love the Pirates queue as it is, I think mostly due to the soundtrack played. Never mind the different bit and pieces of scenery along the way.I heard people saying that the ride was going to receive a new interactive queue, I guess not now you told me about safety and effect improvements.
Are you kidding me? When those seat cushions dropped down it practically took your breath away.I don't remember any g-forces on Mission to Mars either!
That would be a neat thing to get to see Pirates as an empty stage without it's charactersSo regarding this attraction I have heard promising things as currently the attraction is drained, as well as all AA's currently removed. So only the environments are in place. Also heard before the refurb CM's needed to try and balance out the boats. Nothing confirmed but I have much optimism regarding this refurb and look forward to its opening.
Especially a long car ride after a lunch of Skyline Chili. . .By whom? There's nothing on this planet that isn't potentially an accident waiting to happen.
So not true. We may not have had them, but lawsuits from the 80's and 90's caused what we see today. If they had used a modicum of safety then, maybe we wouldn't be nannied now.
Are they bringing back the talking parrot?
How long has the talking skull been gone?God I wish. Along with the Skull and bones at the top of the drop.
