This is the construction I'd like to see a from the sky view. See how I avoided the "other" word and the resulting Little Mermaid image? I'm still having a hard time seeing how extensive this work is right now.
LOL, man i had a picture ready...

What have they said is the target completion date for the new hub and the main street bypass exit?

For the hub Disney has said "2015". Permits expire in November of 2015 so I expect them to be working on it until well in 2015. Disney hasn't said anything official about the Main Street Bypass happening. There have been a few reports of work going on that could be for the bypass but no indication of when it might be done.

I can definitely add to reports of work being done. Here's a look at it as of about a week or two ago:

Thanks. Could you give me some perspective on just where this is? I guess we're looking somewhat south?? but I could be wrong.

The op can correct me if I am wrong but it appears that the picture was take from where I start the red arrow looking in the direction of the arrow. The building in the background looks like the backstage part of Tony's and the rectangular area you can see in the aerial photo looks like they are that is being shown in the picture. If I had to guess I would say that is going to be a planting bed with something along the back to hide the backstage area. The two columns are probably a support for a backstage gate.

I was standing at the yellow dot taking the picture in the direction of the red cone:

Work is actually progressing decently. I'll see if I can get another pic tonight.

As much as I appreciate these pictures, remember that backstage pictures are usually not allowed. If you are a CM be sure you aren't risking your employment.

Is that the case when the bypass is actually open? Meaning, when they are shuffling paying guests through the bypass, I've never seen them mentioning to anyone that they cannot take pictures. Doesn't mean that pictures are actually allowed, but I've never heard them say specifically that they are not. Is this a grey area?

That's a good question. I would imagine that it would be hard to stop.

From what I see here it looks as if the 2 concrete pillars are going to hold up a gate. The area on either side of the gate will be fenced off "behind the gate line" and the the the entire area on either side will be filled with plants most likely of the evergreen variety towards the back by the fence to obscure it and lower more decorative plants in the front. If you look at the far right side of the photo you will see the low steel bar fence they use in multiple places throughout WDW on stage.

looking more closely at what utilities are there (looks like storm drain <thats the DWV> and some electrical/comm<thats the smaller PVC>)looks like planters, not shops...

so you are saying that they are moving the on/off stage gate back to here and building more shops past tony's? that sounds inconceivable!

The main thing they need to move is the Balloon office and the Helium tank/storage. I can see them building a new structure for that as it's currently in the back of the confectionary / main street cinema and it's not going to be easily hide-able without a wall or other visual block.

I would agree with this. Also, they wouldn't have put that railing in if they planned to build a building there. There are also posts along the back of the area, likely to hold a fence of backdrop of some sort. Again they would not have put these in if they planned to build a structure there.

it also looks like they may, in fact, place the on/off stage gate here(between the columns) and make the passage an 'always onstage'
::::EDIT:::: had a shatner comma in there...
