Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

Let's not give TDO any ideas! I'd hate to see what's included in that package... maybe a cheap hard hat with Mickey ears on it?
It's not even the scariest idea in the thread: they could consider putting the 7 Dwarves & other characters on top of construction vehicles and parading them down Main Street during some sort of twice daily performance "Disney's Magical Off-To-Work (Home-From-Work) Parade".

but backfill wouldnt compact under there properly, leading to mini 'sinkholes' on either side where the soil would naturally compact over time and drag the top layer down into the cavity(not the bridge itself, but the surrounding viewing area would be pulled down)

What if they capped the sides of the bridge with concrete? The only other way I can see them dealing with this is to tear out the bridge. With the new sections built they could probably accommodate the guest traffic, but it would probably mean stopping parades until the work is done.

'Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It! Street Party' performances at the Magic Kingdom will be restricted to evenings only on select days next week.

The reduction in performances is due to concrete work taking place on Main Street U.S.A.

I see this as good news. I'd much prefer watching concrete dry.

This is the construction I'd like to see a from the sky view. See how I avoided the "other" word and the resulting Little Mermaid image? I'm still having a hard time seeing how extensive this work is right now.

What you see is what you get. The work on the Adventureland side is contained to where the water was from Main Street to the Adventureland bridge, and the work on the Tomorrowland side is contained to where the water was from Main Street to right in front of the Tomorrowland Terrace restaurant.

You can see in the new pics from today that in the third pic there are a few workers by the main street bridge looking at it...Looks like they're going to pour the tomorrowland side soon and then maybe cap the main street bridge next. Really only logical way to do it without disrupting the parades and flow.
