Tomorrow with the crowds of the 24 hour party should be the first test if the new design helps to alleviate crowds during fireworks, maintaining flow during parades.

And the crowds are only going to get bigger as schools get out and summer vaca starts. They better get moving on the planters so they can open that area up as well or it'll kind of be a wash. With a little more than a month left until Independence Day I would hope that's their goal. Just get that center hub 100% open (the Partners area). They had more to do on the other side (two main planters plus the Partners planter) than they do with these other two planters. Get it done. I realize there's the component of replacing the red pavement with the beige, but do that after summer crowds die down a bit. Open Partners and open that area, they need that space. They rushed to get the other side done for the spring break crowd, now it's time to get it done for the summer vaca crowd.

Disney Parks Blog says they are unveiled today!

Anybody want to stop by and take some nice pictures for us?

There is some sort of miscommunication going on there. Some folks are reporting that they're still under tarps, but Disney's blogger, Jennifer F-B, is saying:

"The turrets debuted at the park today.

"

Does she mean they were trucked in and are in the process of being installed? I don't think so... we saw the initial structures going up.

Don't you love when one part of a company has no idea what is actually going on in another part?

Quite common, even with smaller operations. So imagine at Disney. Makes you wonder where the group (or person) who works on the blog is based.

I was there a couple of days ago and the turrets didn't seem near completion. All those lampposts though ugh. Taller trees/shrubs are needed. Maybe tall hedges (maze) to bring the eyes away from the sea of iron posts?

In the past Disney's bloggers have usually been 'unpaid' contest winners - with the exception of the one person who runs the show. If you've heard of the Disney Mom's panel, that's what I'm talking about. These folk get info passed along to them by the one in charge that they are to write up and post about. They're usually given some images to go with it, and are under direct orders not to divulge information beyond what they are told, although they can inquire for answers.

I mention 'unpaid' above as they do receive other benefits by being a Disney blogger: typically in the form of trips that they are to write about and/or appear in videos for. They are under contract to post a certain number of blog entries for the year.

I only know this as I am friends with a Disney Mom's panel alumnus on another forum.

Look at the titles of you posters on the Disney Parks Blog, those aren't unpaid people.

Some are, some aren't. For example, Thomas Smith is a paid Disney Employee - and unfortunately for him, he usually gets the more difficult items to post about. You can't really go by titles, but it if says "writer" there's an excellent chance that they are unpaid. "Social Media Manager" is another grey area title.

If the Disney Parks Blog is operated as you say then: WHOA! It should definitely be something worked on by their Marketing Department...not just administered by them to make sure Maggie Sue wrote about Frozen. At least one person, a paid Disney employee should be dedicated to writing for it.

I'll admit, outside of the bigger announcements I rarely read the blog. Not sure what the Disney Moms Panel is, but it doesn't sound good.

Sounds like they were expecting the turrets to be finished by the 24hr event and they probably had that blog in the hopper already. That's my wild guess anyway.

Also, just because a post is said to be written by "Mr. Big Shot, in operations" doesn't mean they wrote it. It does however mean it was vetted by the higher ups to make sure it's acceptable. Disney Marketing people probably were involved...I would think. Most companies do a horrible job with social media. They fear it or just don't understand it. But I digress....

I hope the turrets and hub are completed soon.

Nowhere does it say that the turrets debuted at the park today. You really need to re-read the blog. She called it a "first look" and there was an artist rendition shown. Nothing new.
