Not the best image, but not a lot has surfaced. The whole background, that walkway is walled seating.

I'm not positive, but looking closely at this photo, and at others around, it appears that there is a metal fence on the top of all that "seating". So it doesn't appear to be available for seating (unless you have a much skinnier behind than I do) but is a base for fencing.

Look further back on the left. You can see someone sitting sideways on a bench. There's also someone seated on the far right.

If you take a look at the walk thru video posted by @wdwmagic, you can see that the rail is offset a decent amount to allow for seating on the walls.

It's a pretty good solution to the bench issue. By integrating the seating into the walls, it keeps the walkways open. And the seating faces away from the castle, thus discouraging people trying to sit there during the fireworks.

Hi!
Welcome to our neighborhood. I see you moved in a couple of months ago. Maybe you have visited a bunch of times before you moved in, but it is hard to tell. As you continue to get to know us you will find out that there a lot of different personalities here. Some of them can be grating, but most of us are nice. Even some of the nice ones can get a little aggressive if a new neighbor moves in and acts like he owns the place and demands respect he hasn't earned.
There are a lot of nice, understanding , and really forgiving people here too. I wish I could take back every thing I said , when I first joined....I thought this was a debating format, and tried to win at all costs, as we learned in school so many years ago....I was just not informed...and Most forgave me....Just want to say I'm so , so, sorry for all I was not nice too. I'm an extreme Disney lover. I sometimes loose my perspective, when things change, as with price increases. I've looked at what needs to keep the park , where we want it to be, and I understand that takes money, into today's dollars.....Just wish I had more of them;)

You can see people sitting on it already... including one sitting with parallel to the wall, with both legs up on it. There looks to be a good amount of surface available before the fence.

It will be sad when our excitement here is ruined when the Partners Statue is unveiled again but now features Bob Iger holding Olaf's hand pointing toward the Emporium.

Nah, pretty sure that statue will be erected in place of the BAH in front of GMR. ;)

I agree this is a great solution to the bench issue. Since it faces away from the castle, it'll hopefully prevent people from standing on it since guests would complain to the standing person that he/she is blocking their view.

I could do it! but the real detail that people would really need to know is the placement of bulbs to create the almost tinkerbell like movement of light. that is what creates the magic feeling. but also there is a dimmer on the lights so that I can slow the twinkle effect as well.

A tutorial is also relevant to my interests.

Photo update as of Thursday, Feb 26. While the construction walls came down earlier this week, today was only the second day Plaza Gardens West were open to guests. WDWMagic has posted a great video and pictures. Here are a few photos of guests enjoying the area later in the day. Some guests were even picnicking on the grass. Even though it rained just a day ago, the grass was dry. Perhaps there is a drain system under the artificial grass.

The castle crane: the "ice lights" have long been removed, so I believe Disney took the opportunity of having the crane in place to do some upkeep on the castle. Workmen in a cage were hoisted up to work on the turrets.

Workmen were busy on Plaza Gardens East all day, installing artificial grass and landscaping. A cast member said Plaza Gardens East would open tomorrow. That may be if they work all night, but I think a couple more days. Following two photos are of Plaza Gardens East taken over the construction wall.

Below photo is of the expanded "dining area" for the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor across from The Plaza Restaurant, to mirror the expanded area across from Casey's Corner.

On the public side of the construction wall, the tables and chairs across from The Plaza Restaurant have been removed recently, in preparation for removing the construction wall.

The restrooms at the base of Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant are indeed open. Here is a photo of the large planter being constructed in front of the restroom entrances. The white color and concrete shape/form match the existing shapes around Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant.

Around the hub itself, preparations are in place for new pavement and the planters are taking shape, similar to the new Plaza Gardens. Note the color detail at the base of the Partners statue.
