It looks like the MSEP will be at WDW during our trip. I will miss Spectro though. What is the electrical parade like? Is it just as good or better than Spectro?

I think it is just as good if not better than Spectro, but that my opinion. Some will not agree with that. I love it because it brings back memories of my first few trips to the world. Either way it is still great and why would it not be. It happens at night and it lights up.

Six of one, half dozen of the other. I don't really enjoy one more than the other. I have not see MSEP in quite some time so I am looking forward to something different.

In my opinion the best.
I first saw the EP many yrs ago at Disneyland, I'm still humming the music as you will be long after the parade is over. Many many many people were very unhappy when they moved it to WDW Magic Kingdom. If I remember correctly they moved it because they came up with the "Light Magic" parade or whatever they called it, that lasted one season at best. It was a tremendous loss of money and a complete flop. They brought it back and even now it is at Ca. Adventure only, not down main street in Disneyland. I have heard they are going to move the EP back to Main St soon. My view, this is the best parade they have ever had, I still have the old VCR tape of the parade I bought at Disneyland many yrs ago. Don't forget to take your Video camera

Possibly. There have been a few rumors circulating that MSEP will be in WDW for 2 years.

That being said I'll try to be objective as possible. Spectro is probably much better technology-wise with fiber optics etc. that enable to do many more effects than MSEP ever could dream of. And spectro probably also has a more rousing and lyrical score. However, my heart will always lie with MSEP, it is usually longer, seems to contain more lights (although I don't think it actually does) and the music is extremely catchy and unique. Not to mention there are no weird space clowns running amuck. It gives a much more classic Disney feeling than spectro does.

You're gonna have a tough time getting an accurate reply for this one. I of course will say MSEP because it's the parade that I grew up with and for me, the Magic Kingdom in general seemed like it was missing something those first few months or so when they took it away. That's how big it was back in the day. I'm excited because it really will be fun to go back to my childhood when I see it again.

And I feel the same way about MSEP's. It's grating to me.
But MSEP has better floats, so it's a slight nod to Spectro, because I think MSEP's music is just so bad.

I agree with you. Spectro's music just isn't...parade-ish enough for me. It would work better for a show I think. MSEP music is just so happy, uplifting, and exciting! I saw the parade several times as a young boy, and I loved loved LOVED it. I think SpectroMagic is pretty awesome still, don't get me wrong, but I feel that it has nothing on MSEP. I've said this tons of times too, but I'll say it again.....I really hope they use the ORIGINAL music, the original version of "Baroque Hoedown" instead of the re-recorded one they used last summer at DCA. The new one just sounds...cheesy to me!
Final verdict: Spectro is awesome, but MSEP > Spectro by a long shot.

I've tried to look at videos of MSEP on youtube but none of them really capture it that well so I'll have to wait and see for myself this summer. I am pretty much the type of person that listens to the SpectroMagic music (along with other Disney music) in the car in the morning or while I'm getting ready or even while on WDWMAGIC so I hope that MSEP is just as good. By what I've heard so far I'm sure it's great. :sohappy:

Oh if you sing/listen to Spectro in the car, then you will DEFINITELY be hooked on MSEP when you see it
And you're right, none of the videos do it justice. I don't think ANY of the parade videos do any parades justice...

I'm going to just miss MSEP on my next trip - I'm sooo bummed! I grew up with it, so it is my favorite parade. I love, love, love Spectro too. I have seen Spectro so many times, that for me I'd rather see MSEP right now. I hope it really is around for a few years!
