The dress is not as bad, but Iā€™m not a fan of the magenta logo sash going around the waistline.

I think the backpack is the least offensive out of everything. Not worth the price theyā€™ll ask for, though. The ears arenā€™t too bad either.
The illustrations are actually quite nice; it's just what they decide to do with the illustrations that is shockingly bad.

I wouldn't mind a black long sleeve with the Electrical Parade logo on the breast and then the different floats either printed in a grid on the back or down along the sides of the sleeves. Simple, clean, and I wouldn't feel like an imbecile wearing it.

I agree. The actual design is nice; the usage isnā€™t. This is why I donā€™t mind the backpack. The image is on there against a black backdrop and itā€™s not spread all over the material.

I was gonna say the same thing. I'm absolutely happy to pay the $15 extra for reserved seating if it means I don't have to deal with the crowds descending hours before the parade starts.

Same here. The only issue I have with it is that my wife doesnā€™t eat anything with bones (which is annoying because I rarely get wings an an appetizer because of this). I wonder if they ll sub the roast for the chicken.

Agreed. The dress is cute (if, as @raven24 said, you lose the sash). I'd wear it. But then again, I'm also the girl that gets a new "ugly" Christmas dress every year. I'm silly like that. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø
My mom was given an ā€œuglyā€ Christmas sweater by one of her students many years ago. I happen to really love that sweater. She recently threatened to give it to Goodwill. Itā€™s now hanging in my closet.

WDW fans were definitely back in the comments begging for the return of MSEP or a night parade in general, once again claiming that they never get anything nice.

I shouldā€™ve popped some popcorn before I scrolled through the comments.
Apparently they've already forgotten all of the shiny new rides, resorts, and transport that they've gotten and/or will be getting soon.

And they have Jiko, superior Haunted Mansion, the Safari/Animal Kingdom, Sanaa, Disney Springs, Toledo, etc. I can't feel THAT sorry for them.

I donā€™t really feel sorry for them either. I understand that many fans are disappointed with the 50th anniversary, but come on.

They were in the comments for the Disneyland Forever post today as well. Yikes.

I mean, it's the same ol' MSEP, not Dreamlights. Perspective is important.

It's a beat-up Oldsmobile that's propped up and band-aided together because of memories and nostalgia, not a mint condition Rolls Royce.
Dreamlights is over 20 years old... not exactly mint condition. as much as the "grass is always greener" stance seems like the right one, it's just as dangerous as nostalgia goggles is.

To me there's still a difference.

For one, something debuting in 2001 vs. 1972/1977 still has a tremendous tech advantage in the present day.

Two, Tokyo immaculately maintains their floats. I'm sure DLR does a fine job with the MSEP but they certainly weren't being kept up in top condition during their WDW sojourn. They creak and groan in a way they certainly didn't in the parade's prime.

And finally, the Dreamlights of today has much less resemblance to the Dreamlights of 2001 than MSEP has to the MSEP of the seventies. Sure, in California they're swapping out the flag with the new character floats, they changed to the Dreamlights score, and added the Tinkerbell float, but otherwise MSEP has essentially remained unchanged since 1985 (give or take a few float/performer deletions since).

That's not the case for Dreamlights. Every few years Tokyo will add, remove, and refurbish a few floats. By the time of my first visit to the resort (2010), they had already removed some opening day floats and added some others. Back for my second visit nine years later, because of adding new units, eliminating others, and refurbishing still more floats, only one float was identical between my two visits. DLR used to do this semi-regularly when the parade was new, but nothing on the level of what Tokyo has done with Dreamlights.

And so, even though Dreamlights has now been running for more than 20 years, it doesn't look it, at least in part because all but one of the original floats have been retired. MSEP looks every day of its fifty years by comparison.

Not feeling the merchandise at all.

How many farewell/return merchandise is MSEP going to get at this point?
