A standard that, somehow, its cousin Electrical Water Pageant escapes unscathed from.

Why can the Electrical Water Pageant celebrate its 50th but not the Main Street Electrical Parade?

In the case of the water pageant, they added a tag, but kept the rest of the show the same as it was in 2019 [which itself has been the same since the early 90s I think].

For the MSEP, I think an additional 50th unit, or this new one truly being a new build, would have been better.

The parade has lost many units over the years due to neglect or constant moving. It deserves to be longer than the last time it came back.

Exactly. I’m confused and genuinely asked that question to try and understand where folks are coming from. Why is MSEP, in particular, not allowed to evolve?

I’m turning 30 in April. I’ve got my eye on a pink jumpsuit for the occasion, as well as other things throughout the year. I should be allowed to purchase and wear that pink jumpsuit and not be forced to wear something that I’ve already worn lol.

Not a "turn the story of human trafficking a literal child into a love story that purposely transforms the child in question into a male-fantasy adult for some fallacy of a both sides argument" fan. Also not a fan of trivializing Native religion to suit some weird "environmental" message. Hard pass. No thanks. 🤢

Right. It’s ok in Snow White and Little Mermaid though because they’re White.

The only purpose this parade serves is for nostalgia, and if they take that away (and they've already taken away a lot of it), then there should be no point in having it.

They need to just accept that Paint the Night was a huge Light Magic-esque failure and move on to design a new light parade, or give up on the idea entirely.

Paint the Night was a failure? It’s adored and is constantly in demand! It packed the streets!
Light Magic only lasted 1 Summer in 1997.

HKDL's PTN started Fall 2014, ran till COVID, HKDL still wants to use it?????

DL's PTN ran the whole 60th & Christmas 2016. Then wnt o DCA for Pixar Fest.

PTN CAN'T be another Light Magic!
Also, if it were up to me, they'd bring back Return to Oz, but I unfortunately do not make these decisions. ;)
Never saw the movie but, Great MSEP Soundtrack!!! Too bad they can't use the music elsewhere.

Paint the Night is not a Light Magic, it is high regarded and well-liked.

I am not sure what TDA's issue with it is... but it's not due to guest popularity.

Honestly, I would welcome them redoing some of the MSEP floats with light / design upgrades, and flesh out Paint the Night even more.
Actually, DL's 60th proved PTN & MSEP are both needed and liked at the same time. With PTN in DL and MSEP in MK.

RIP To Honor Bacon America. It may be gone but it'll always be sizzling the bicentennial in our hearts.

Light Magic failed in part, because of strong feelings for the MSEP at the time. If we are still in a position where Disney will choose to run MSEP rather than Paint the Night, then what's the difference between now and 1997? Paint the Night has failed to replace the MSEP just the same as Light Magic.

And I'm sure there were people out there that like Light Magic too, but here we are.

The only people who appear to have an issue with Paint the Night are the people that run Disneyland Resort.

It's NOT an issue of popularity with the public. It's not an issue of what is or isn't relatable IP. It isn't an issue of which parade is more impressive in 2022 (I'd argue that for the vast majority of park visitors, PTN beats MSEP handily in at least the two latter cases).

It's just that Disneyland just plain doesn't want to run it, and there's yet to be any real or clear reason given as to why that is.

Especially since Hong Kong Disneyland, where PTN originated, continues to run it without issue.

I doubt that they did it intentionally when they were deciding what day to announce when the DL nightime spectacular are returning, but it's funny that they announced the "To Honor America" section "glowing away" the day after President's Day.
