Main Street Bakery to Serve Starbucks Coffee

This just in! You will now be able to sine with Mickey's dirty uncle! Cinderella's Royal Table will now be replaced with Chuckie Cheese! Don't worry the theme will match the area. Haven't you always wanted to ride a tube slide out of the spires of the castle?! What a play place!!

I think this is the future. Contract out what you no longer can or are willing to do. Is it "bad"? It has the potential to become a Disneyfied mall, complete with generic goods and a food court, but if kept to a minimum and used where it makes a kind of sense, then it may be ok. I really do think, however, that this is how things will be done. Not saying it's very bad or just a minor annoyance, only time will tell, but any future additions of this nature should be handled with extreme consideration. I don't think anyone wants to see a Taco Bell in MK.

While we're on the subject, I've always thought it a little out of place having a Rainforest Cafe in or adjacent to AK. I know that thematically it fits, and it's fairly uncommon, but it's not Disney. Don't hate it, but I've found it borderline out of place. If that makes sense.

I know it's not a chain like Starbucks, but half the restaurants at EPCOT are run by third party vendors and most of DTD too. Not sure if the issue is that it's run by a third party vendor or that it's a chain.

You can get Starbucks anywhere. Replacing a classic with an average run of the mill overpriced place to get coffee and other items is not a good move. Plus, Main Street Bakery is always packed with people!

How disappointing to say the least. What not rhe Plaza or rarely used Tommorrowland Terrace Noodle Station.
I know the facade wil not change but a tradition for my family and I just died.

I was really excited when I first heard WDW would be adding Starbucks to their parks, I absolutely love their lattes! BUT now I hear we will be losing the iconic Main St Bakery I am gutted!

Be careful what you wish for! :(

That sucks big time!
I have to agree with all the negative remarks. The theme of Main Steet, USA, relates to the bygone days of "main street". Today in most cities and towns, there are very few Main Streets left, and most of them are antique or museums of "what main street" used to be. That is the beauty of Magic Kingdom's Main Street. You are supposedly walking down Main Street, USA of the golden years. What in this world does Starbucks have to do with Main Street. As you enter Main Street from the train station, you are in a different world, a different time, and then, right in the middle of all the nostalgia sits a Starbucks. Wow! What a theme-breaker. Enjoy Starbucks anywhere else but the "Magic Kingdom"! And I agree with the fact that McDonalds was a washout. I hope Starbucks gets more complaints than compliments!

Don't really like the idea. But I will hold judgement until it opens. Really, as long as I can get my cheese danish and milk in the mornings I will be happy. That's what always takes me back to being 5 years old and hitting up the bakery first thing. After rope drop. Fingers crossed.

Oh heavens, don't do that. It's better to jump to conclusions concerning what is going to happen and immediately vote it down. I guess, based on our political climate as of late, it is a natural for everyone to do. I asked my grandson the other day if he would like a blueberry muffin. His response was, eeechhh! I hate blueberries. I asked...have you ever tried it? His reply, no but I know I won't like it. I nagged him enough until he decided to try one and after a number of early bouts with contorted facial expressions, he mellowed out and finished the muffin. Guess what his favorite is now? Of course, he is 10, certainly adults wouldn't act the same way.

Oh man my wife is going to be mad, she LOVES the main street bakery. I am not a Starbucks fan at all, so I'm not looking forward to the change at all. I don't know, I just feel like there are a hundred other places they could have done this without removing something that didn't need replacing. I am not against them having Starbucks, this just doesn't feel right to me. I am guessing its a follow the money situation. I would bet that Starbucks is paying Disney a handsome fee to be in that spot.

Not a good idea, it will change the whole feeling of Main Street for me. Somewhere like Epcot or Downtown would not upset me like Main Street does. Starbucks creates an atmosphere that congers up very different feelings that an arbitrary ice cream company brand. A typical midwest town 1900's Main Street would definitely have a branded ice cream parlor - but not a socially alienating coffee shop.

This doesn't seem to be a very equally divided issue. It definitely is a majority rules argument. Let's face it, it appears that at least 98% of us don't want this to happen, but it also seems that in that 98% at least half or maybe more would be ok if the facade was left alone. While we may not fancy the idea of a modern coffee bistro residing in one of the buildings of MK, it seems like the bigger issue is (will our view down MSUSA be ruined by a modern day Starbucks jutting out into the sidewalk.) Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's just my perception. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE FACADE WILL CHANGE?

If the DCA version is any indication then the façade is unlikely to stand out from the rest of the area and may not even change at all with the exception of a few small Starbucks signs. They may not even change the name significantly, maybe Main Street Bakery and Café.

I am utterly disgusted at this news. The Main Street Bakery was my favorite place for a sit down snacks with the Cinnamon Rolls. Just the entire atmosphere. I don't even know how to respond to this without using profanity. I've struggled with my decision to spend so much money at WDW as of late, and this has pushed it over the edge.

As others have point out, the one in DCA is very nicely themed and blends in with the rest of Buena Vista Street, and even has it's own name Fiddler,Fifer and Practical Café.

Exactly, Tom Bricker posted an interesting article stating the same thing. I was pretty against the idea until he convinced me otherwise.

To which I know at least I'd be fine with if they HAD to change something about it. I also just remembered that they literally just finished a how many months long refurbishment on the facade. When we were there in June our view of the castle was blocked on the right by an enormous box with a picture of the Main Street Bakery. And that had been there for how long? So it doesn't seem likely that the facade would be changing after such an extensive overhaul.
