It's a good thing Disney didn't go with realism when it came to Main Street USA.

Yeah, because this is going to look so much better....

I can't believe that they are going to ruin the look of Main Street USA with a Starbucks. I don't have anything against Starbucks but it just isn't the right place for it.
Wow I'm not sure how I feel, I just can't imagine a big starbucks sign hanging over the doorway. You know I just don't think I like it.

Go back to page 1 and actually read the park blog. "both locations will be designed to fit the theme of their surroundings". Then go to page 2 and look at the pictures from DL. The cafe looks exactly the same except for a small circular starbucks sign on the wall outside. About the size of Captain America's shield. No plans for a giant Starbucks sign. Unlikely to ruin the look of Main Street.

i personally have never gone to MSB, but I know of people who LOVE it!!! I like starbucks, but i wish the original backery could also remain. I guess I just enjoy the old fashioned appeal of MS USA!

For those of you who don't think this is a big deal, consider the following conversation.

CEO: “Our shareholders are unhappy. Earnings were not good last quarter and they want us to improve the numbers. We’re already planning on increasing WDW ticket prices another 10% this year. What else can we do?”

Senior VP of Sales: “Well, remember that Starbucks shop we opened on Main Street a few years ago? Starbucks is willing to pay us an annual fee if we let them hang a large sign out front. We can even design it to look antique so it will blend it.”

CEO: “We can’t do that. It will be in every picture people take of Cinderella Castle from Main Street.”

Senior VP of Sales: “Exactly. Starbucks thinks it’s great advertising. That’s why they are willing to pay us $5 Million annually if we let them hang the sign.”

Now you finish the conversation.

This is just speculation. Just like beer and wine at dinner at BOG leading to beer carts all over the magic kingdom. There is no official word that they will be adding a giant Starbucks sign. That would truly be sad.

Yes we do it well LOL.... I personally do not have a problem with it. I don't like baked breakfasts and i don't like wasting time standing in line because its always so busy in there. What i do enjoy is a strong coffee witch Disney World does not have except KONA CAFE but it's a little out of the way when u are not heading to the MK. I'm sure Coffee lovers on this site will agree that finally we can get a descent coffee to wake us up in the morning on that 7th day in the park after 6 grueling, glorious days and nights of walking partying and the pure excitement of being in the world. That's what i cant wait for :)

If you don't like wasting time standing in a line, the Disney should never be on you list of places to go. I also doubt you will get faster or better service if it is starbucks, expect the same speed maybe even slower because the increased options will only add to the time required to fill orders.

I cannot believe that Main St bakery is going away. I did not expect this. Maybe it was nieve on my part, but removing such a popular location also does not make sense to me. Now where am I going to get that Apple Charlotte, Cinnamon rolls or yougurt parfeits. I am not a Starbucks fan, so it looks like I will now have to bring a pop tart for breakfast when visiting MK instead of stopping @ tghe Bakery for breakfast.

Plenty to eat still:

Why would they do it any different than at DCA? The top two rows are for Starbucks items, and the bottom three rows are for Disney treats. You get better coffee and more food choices, and subtle signage inside and out to demarcate an outpost of Starbucks. Everybody wins.

I haven't had a pop tart in years, but now I am craving one:)

The Epcot Manifesto
I slept on it and am suprisingly ok with it in mornings light with some small conditions. If it means the place will get a nice thematic refurb and if they keep some non Starbucks food options, both of which are likely based on DCA, I'm all for it.

As others have point out, the one in DCA is very nicely themed and blends in with the rest of Buena Vista Street, and even has it's own name Fiddler,Fifer and Practical Café.

Like Borden's Ice Cream Parlor, later changed to Sealtest Ice Cream Parlor, now sponsored by Edy's. Seems there has always been commercial places on Main Street.

Good point, but I think the issue is that while both are commerical firms...they have vastly different presences in the market which lead to even more diverse consumer mindsets when thinking of said brands. I only see Edy's/Dreyer's products quietly placed in my ice cream section when in my grocery store, but I see a Starbucks every few miles every day with additional presence in grocery stores, convenience stores, cafes, etc. and it's all with bold marketing. When you consider Starbucks' gross market oversaturation, the comparison would be like having Walmart's Mousegears or McDonald's Pecos Bills.
