I love Ozsewski's work. But they've been so expensive lately. I ownly own Cinderella Castle which cost about $250 and these new pieces are just as much...yet they're 1/4 the size of the castle. I am definitely glad that he's stepped up the production of the Main Street pieces though...This Winter alone he's released Exposition Hall, City Hall, the Central Hub, and now the Emporium and Uptown Jewelers....

I've been waiting for the Emporium Reproduction to come out...and with the artist signing happening...i might have to splerge.... :dazzle:

I hope he does come out with a platform. I remember about a year ago the WDW set was suffering from lower than expected sales. He had hoped to do some attraction reproductions to go along with the Main Street set, much like he did with Disneyland, but last I heard he was just going to finish the Main Street buildings and that was it... sooo who knows if we'll get our mainstreet platform or not...

I found that online a few weeks ago. I LOVE it but don't have the money right now  I told my mom about it in hopes she'd get it for a graduation present but I don't think thats going to happen.

the pieces range from $135 (Town Square) to $250 (Cinderella Castle)

if you bought one of all of the pieces that were currently available it would cost you about $1,776 including sales tax.

This is why I only have Cinderella Castle so far...but I just received some really good news about my job today so I'm going to be heading out there on the 21st for the signing and will probably be buying the new 1st Issue release of the Uptown Jewelers and/or the Central Hub.

So I just wanted to let you all know that I did end up going out to Magic Kingdom on 3/21 to meet Mr. Olszweski and to pick up one of the lastest releases to his Main Street USA reproductions...I chose to get the Emporium this go around.

Robert was a VERY VERY nice guy, and probably would have talked to us for hours. I always find it awkward meeting people like that...even though he's not a celebrity of sorts, he is a renowned artist. He asked me if I was familiar with any of his other works and I embarassly had to say not besides his Disneyland and Disney World Reproductions and his new Gallory of Light set. (I will do my homework and check out his other works for my next encounter though!!!)

I am pleased to say that they are planning to release the platform for Disney World like they did with the Disneyland set...his assistant Travis said that we can expect it around the fall of next year. They also had the models of the pieces being released this fall will be the Train Station (which is HUGE), Casey's, and 2 pieces from our own Main Street Electrical Parade (I was suprised they didn't chose Spectro). A nice tidbit that Mr. Olszewski said was that he has had much better relations working with Disneyland on his miniature set than with Disney World. He has been with the same project manager for 9 years at DL and has gone through 3 managers in the 4 years he's been working on the WDW set...this is why it has been taking so long to get these pieces released.

I was upset after my encounter however...I purchased the Emporium and was told by the Cast Member and Robert's assistant Travis that all of the new releases that they had set up had already been signed prior to the Meet and Greet Event. Not wanting to take the $275 model out of it's box in the middle of a crowded store to verify this, I took their word for it. I unfortunately found out when I got back to my place that evening that my model was not signed by the artist. Since I spent close to $300 and the whole point of my visit on Saturday was to get the new release signed by him, I did write a letter of disappointment to guest relations and will also send one to Olszewski Studios. It's not like I'm going to risk bringing that model back to the next meet and greet to get it signed!

Not that I actually expect any restitution...

Anyway. I didn't take any pictures of the event but am definitely looking forward to the next Meet and Greet and the new releases coming this year!

 Wow! That pic and the others in the link are awesome! I have Cinderella Castle; if the WDW set is going to look like that when it’s done I need to start collecting the other pieces.

well it is going to look like that except ours will be bigger...Travis said the table for WDW will be over 6 ft long...

This table/platform thing. Does it have it's own legs or do you still need something big enough to sit it on?

it's only a platform, not a table, each Main Street piece currently sits on a wooden plaque to display seperately right now. When the platform is released you can unscrew each model from their plaques and place it only the table top platform. There will apparently be easy-to-use wiring harnesses to link all of the pieces to the same electrical panel when placed onto the platform. The Disneyland platform apparently fit ontop of a standard 6ft folding table so I believe the WDW set will be similar.

including the table, lighting kit, landscaping kits, buildings, and accessories, this entire set will easily run you about $2,500...so keep that in mind before you start to buy up this set or you buy the platform before purchasing all of the pieces!

Congrats on your purchase, and thanks for the report on the event! It sounds like it would have been a great time.

:brick: on the piece not being signed. I hope you will pursue that until they make good on their promise.

Best of luck!

Thanks for the info. I didn’t realize the models unscrewed from the base. I thought the street pieces where hiding the base. I’m scared I’ll damage my castle just dusting it, let alone unscrewing it from a base.

I don’t collect other Disney merchandise, so shelling out cash on something nice like this doesn’t scare me. It also helps that the cost is spread out over years as the pieces get released.
