There’s another potential closure in 2026.Has anyone heard anything about a potential re-tracking of the ride which would require an even more lengthy closure in the future?

Yeah, it's been rumoured that Big Thunder is closing for refurb first half of 2025 and first half of 2026, whilst Space is closing back half of 25 and back half of 26, so both major coasters at DLP are refurbed in time for the 35th without closing them for a year at a time. Still have to see if the Space half of the rumour is true, and its impact on the Space retheme rumourThere’s another potential closure in 2026.
Fingers crossed. The SM rumours are gaining traction and would tie in with the current exterior work.Yeah, it's been rumoured that Big Thunder is closing for refurb first half of 2025 and first half of 2026, whilst Space is closing back half of 25 and back half of 26, so both major coasters at DLP are refurbed in time for the 35th without closing them for a year at a time. The opossums aren't 'broken' as they were intentionally made static figures in the last big refurb, I wouldn't expect this would change during a future refurb.Hopefully the opossums will get some attention as well and they will have them turn again.
Thank you for the info. That's a bit of a bummer. I will not get my hopes up then. I think the turning effect is still active in other parks like TDL.The opossums aren't 'broken' as they were intentionally made static figures in the last big refurb, I wouldn't expect this would change during a future refurb.
Unfortunately I think that is unlikely. I know this is a boring reason but I just don't think the cost vs benefit of that figure being in place would make it feasible to return. It is so inaccessible in that location, getting up there to clean or maintain it feels like too much of a luxury. In that case I will not even dare to dream for the coyote to make a return.
Hopefully, but I think a Space Mountain retheme will be dependent on if Disney adds a new Star Wars attraction to that area of the park. Whilst we'll still have Star Tours and the meet and greet, I think Disney wouldn't want to reduce the only Star Wars presence at DLPWill Hyperspace Mountain finally end after all these refurbs?
“it’s kind of fun to do the impossible”I know this is a boring reason but I just don't think the cost vs benefit of that figure being in place would make it feasible to return.
Disney guest " I want you to keep impractical and costly to maintain theming"“it’s kind of fun to do the impossible”
Vs.
“Not feasible because of cost vs. benefit”
Nothing about any Disney park is feasible.
This is such a crock. The price increases have absolutely no correlation to actual operating costs.Disney guest " I want you to keep impractical and costly to maintain theming"
Disney "park tickets will increase"
Disney guest "who needs theming"
Having a coyote figure is hardy "doing the impossible".
This is such a crock. The price increases have absolutely no correlation to actual operating costs.
You’re really missing my point - all theming is impractical. The rockwork itself, all water features, the coaster itself….. none of it is practical. And none of it is cheap.Disney guest " I want you to keep impractical and costly to maintain theming"
No. I think you are missing the point. Some theming is inherently more impractical than others. You’re really missing my point - all theming is impractical. The rockwork itself, all water features, the coaster itself….. none of it is practical. And none of it is cheap.
I will! I’m at DLP and will be looking for the coyote tomorrow and wishing the opossums were swinging (they don’t swing at WDW or DL so I’m used to it).Have a great new year's.
Did they break again ?(they don’t swing at WDW
They weren’t swinging in November - have they been working recently?Did they break again ?
Not that recently. But they were swinging permanently a few years back when I covered the attraction. And I mean swinging constantly; not timed to trains. But Orlando’s BTM seems to be the unloved stepchild of show quality. They weren’t swinging in November - have they been working recently?
That seems to be the case with most of our attractions, unfortunately. Not that recently. But they were swinging permanently a few years back when I covered the attraction. And I mean swinging constantly; not times to trains. But Orlando’s BTM seems to be the unloved stepchild of show quality.
