Just did and...wow. You're right. My apologies. Company ID's are, at the moment, apparently going to be blocked that night. Holy moly.

That's just...really low and tacky. I'm glad I have a comp ticket I can use.
Especially after waving it in our faces on the hub :( comp tickets are a blessing for things like this!

It appears to be a rehash of last year's One More Disney Day. They must be hoping to sell a lot of T-Shirts and food again.
Why so negative. I just don't get taking something that is a good thing for visitors and making it about a bad thing. BTW selling more means they can do more. But why so negative.

All of my friends don't even touch their comp tickets for the most part, and end up trying to give them away before they expire 99% of the time. I can't imagine that blocking IDs is really going to lower the number of CMs in the park that drastically if that's how most are with the comp tickets, just makes it more annoying for them.

Plus, I still don't think it will truly be consistently busy even with it being a holiday weekend.

I have kind of a simple question really, for those of you who've followed the events over the past couple of days at WDW or followed this thread.

Is it truly going to be a "Monstrous" summer? Or will it be just a summer of monstrously promoting a monsters' movie? Or was it just monstrously overhyped?

It seems to me that Disney put a lot of time and money and promotion into an event that really didn't reveal a lot that's new for the typical park goer.

Any informed opinions on this?

Thats exactly what it was.

24 different rides/shows for an hour each...no problem... Like what could go wrong with being on Small World for an hour straight... Insanity?

Being on Small World for an hour is worth a few thousand dollars in lawsuits as we learned from Disneyland :p

As for the Cast IDs are never blocked thing: I've never heard of them pre-blocking IDs before this, but I believe they always get blocked after a park hits level 1 or 2?

Because there is nothing new here and I feel that it is being done purely to sell merchandise and "special" food. How about doing the 24 hour event and putting on a special firework show, special parade, unique character meet and greets and decorating the park. Now that would be something special. Instead, all you will get is a dance party in the hub and the opportunity to buy some T-Shirts and $4 cup cakes. They are trying to expand the same forumla that has been rolled out to the park anniversary events. SELL, SELL, SELL.

I'm not saying it is bad, just nothing exciting. The first time around for One More Disney Day it was a unique event, but not this time.

I'm already making my gameplan for this. I arrive earlier in that day...figured id hit up epcot (pretty sure its open late that night as well) then hitting up MK until dawn. Get a few hours of sleep then go to SW weekends at DHS (which will hopefully be "light" considering sleepy people from the all nighter). I'm usually easy to spot..look for a long haired dude taking 90486893746798 pictures...if you see me..come say hi!

Lol.

To elaborate on the Cast question. A WDW CM is almost never blacked out. DLR has cast blackouts from time to time. What's more common for WDW is that the guest pass is blocked out. A CM can bring 3 guests (more if they have tons of kIds) up to 16 (I think) times for a blue pass or unlimited times for a silver pass, except during blackouts. Silver passes are for salaried professionals/leaders and those with 15 years of service. These passes are blocked out for certain busy times but they're open more often than not and it's VERY rare for all four parks to be blocked on the same day. I've never heard of cast IDs themselves being blocked out (just the guest "maingate" passes) but this seems to be a special circumstance. Cast also get a few complimentary tickets per year that ignore blackout restrictions.

It seems pretty reasonable to me if CMs are still able to go to the 24 hour event, but not able to bring guests (for free). Or needing to use accumulated comp tickets to allow guests/family to enter.

Edit: it sounds like this will not be the case and CMs won't be able to get in with their IDs. Off hand, that doesn't seem ideal to me, but I have no horse in this race.
