Magic Kingdom to open for 24 hours on Memorial Day Weekend to kick off a Monstrous Summer

I am happy to report I will be going to the 24 hour event YAY!!!:p I will be arriving around 10/11pm Friday night. I am super excited to be able to participate. Then I am leaving at 5am or so and check into my hotel; sleep and eat. Then head to the AK and HS. Then on Sunday I am going to Epcot then close out my holiday weekend at the MK. :cool:

For those curious as to why so many "high attendance" attractions are closing at 4am...it PROBABLY is to be sure they can clear the park out by 6am. As you know, if the park closes at 6am..and you get on line for the ride at 5:59...even if the park closes..as long as you are on line..you can wait to ride it..even if the line is 2 hours long. Closing a high attendance ride at 4am will leave a 2 hour "buffer"...at least thats what makes sense :)

That wasn't my understanding for 2/29. I was under the impression so that they could do the routine, nightly maintenance and inspections.

And dont expect any stores to be open at 6AM at the close. It will be strictly GTFO.

Between that and the fact that Space and Splash are both closing well before 6 AM, they seem like they're trying to encourage most guests to leave before 6.

Well MMY was fantastic, CTM is a damn clip show.

Space and Splash closed early last time. They're rollercoasters. They need nightly inspections / maintenance. If you look back, almost every E ride closed early on 2/29.

Well yeah..thats what I was getting at. They need people to NOT be on the rides after a certain point so they have proper time to set it up for the next day. If people get on the lines at 5:59am. they wont get the window of time they need.

I'm not sure how this is going to go with the CM blackout. No 20,000 CPs partying around the hub.... which I think actually helped the atmospehere.

Cast have a small number of comp tickets with no blockout restrictions. Summer comp tickets haven't been released yet so only cast who haven't used their Winter tickets will be able to go.

Did they hit phase closing on 2/29?

I don't remember. I don't think so. Maybe the parking lot but it wasn't a holiday weekend.

I will also be partaking in "A Monstrorous All-Nighter". Please have that very cool music loop playing the lands that night from OMDD.

WDW got close, but no official phased closings.

But just remember, OMDD was in the middle of slow season on a Wednesday, A Monstorous All-Nighter will be on a Friday, 2days before Memorial Day, During the 2nd weekend of Star Wars Weekend. A lot of factors lead me to believe attendance will hit phased closings, going with the prediction of either a Phase 4 or pretty darn close.

All those factors you mention do point to an extreme likelihood of some level of Phase Closing.

If I'm correct, last year Al Lutz said that in total, The Magic Kingdoms attendance was around 66k and I believe that during that weekend, Magic Kingdom usually sees around 50k maybe 60k that weekend. So yeah, something we can all ponder about.

Forecast for the other day was in the 60s for MK. Gonna guess Phase 3 is a realistic possibility.
