Magic Kingdom Parades

I am sure I am not the only one that feels this way, but does anyone think the Magic Kingdom parades really suck? I mean compaird to the other Disney Parks. To be honest I think they could do a much better job than the Disney Dreams Come True Parade. The floats are so bla and the music is very repetitive. Then again it is better than the Share a dream come true parade lol.

On another note, SpectroMagic has GOT to be replaced or updated. Tokyo Disneylands Electrical Parade Dreamlights is absolutly spectacular. If this parade ever was in WDW it would do SO well.

Perhaps the next celebration will bring new/better parades? Unless it will be Epcots 25th then doubtful any new parades will come into play for that.

me and my hubby and kids were there in feb., i haven't been in 12 years and it was their first trip. spectromagic was the same as 12 years ago, with the exceptions of a few characters. to them it was awesome, to me it was bland, but i never expressed this to them. we are going back in september and this time we have decided to skip the parades and skip character hunting to save some time. it seems like half of our 8 day trip last time consisted of waiting for and watching parades and waiting for characters. this time, we will meet the characters at dinner or breakfast time and let them come to us!:king:

We didn't see the daytime parade, but I'm tired of SpectroMagic. I like it but I've seen it so many times that I'm ready for something new. My kids seemed to enjoy it since they really didn't remember it from before. I really loved the parade at MVMCP. It was awesome.

I prefer the Epcot parade to MK anyday....

Seriously though, while I prefer MVMCP and MNSSHP parades, all are fun, even MGM that I always thought of as weakest. I see no drop-off in crowds for any of the parades...and if you don't like them, all that extra time for rides!

while i havent seen sadct, i agree spectro is OLD. even after it's little break in 99-01 it was still tired when it came back. i agree msep dremlights, or even a swap with dlp spectro for fantillusion would b nice. on the note of a good parade, what ever happened to easter???????????? it was such a festive & fun parade, i usually liked it more or as much as christmas. maybe the powers that make budges will bring back easter next year.

It doesn't really matter what I think.

Judging by the crowds, the parades are still hugely popular.

The way I look at it, having the same parade for years saves me video taping and shortens the attraction lines.

I do, however, wish they would bring back The Electrical Light Parade. That one was my favorite.

I personally enjoy the parades and the music, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to update them. I haven't been to the other Disney Parks so I can't compare, so to me Spectro Magic is one of the best.

I do enjoy the afternoon parades and rarely get sick of them (even after seeing them every day for 6 months. However I would agree with you about SpectroMagic. I am sick of that and partially, I believe because there isn't really a song running through it that is singable.

However, by what measure would you determine "do SO well." As it is, the crowds at parade time are absurd. You can't really fit anymore people in the spaces. And there are so many first time visitors that have never seen the parades.

I love Spectro! Haven't liked a daytime parade at the MK in years...MGM still takes the taco for having the WORST parade though...and for some reason they have kept painfully showing it for 6 years.

May I edit your post slightly?

"....for having what [I feel is] the worst...."

And the reason they show it is because people like myself enjoy it.

What is it you love about Spectro? If I may ask.

Im not a big fan of the parades in any park. The best part of them for me is shorter lines for all the rides. Of course I have a wife and daughter that LOVE parades so I end up having to sit through them at least once a trip. It might be better for me if they did change it every year. That way its not always the same thing over and over and over.

No, you may not edit my post.

I love Spectro for the music, the fact that it has real floats, the fact that it is a long parade (believe it or not, parades have not always been only 5 or 6 floats), it has all the characters with music very well synchronized to the the floats, the magic of seeing the lights change in sync with the music. In a word, the magic. What is it you like about Stars and Cars? Is it the cheap immitation "floats" or the obnoxious announcers? It is the most annoying and cheap parade I have ever seen at MGM. Whatever happened to greats like the Toy Story Parade? Lion King? Hercules? All bona fide parades. Not a buncha themed cars driving down the road. I can see that at the local Homecoming Parade for less than $67.

I miss Tapestry of Nations--a truly inspiring parade with fantastic music that stirred the emotions. The only emotion I get from Stars and Cars is "why is the line for the Tower of Terror still so long? Oh, because unlike the other parades, most people just continue visiting the attractions during this disaster." Bring on Block Party Bash.

I have actually never sat and watched the MGM parade, ever. Is it really as bad as all of you are saying?

I like the MK parades to be honest. What happened to The Main Street Electrical Parade? Was there a big difference between that one and the current Spectro magic?

I'm not a big fan of parades either, save for the Magic Kingdom. I think you should enjoy it once or twice maybe... after that move on to the rides since the lines will be shorter.

I didn't see anyone mention their thoughts on the Animal Kingdom parade.

MSEP left in the early 90s and returned briefly in 2000. The difference is that MSEP obviously has different floats...and different music. Many love MSEP's "Baroque Hoedown" music...but I hate it.

I edited your post because you state as fact what is in fact your opinion.

I love Spectro for the music,

I can see where you would like that. I however prefer music with words.

the fact that it has real floats,

All the floats start to look the same too me.

the fact that it is a long parade (believe it or not, parades have not always been only 5 or 6 floats),

It is long!

it has all the characters with music very well synchronized to the the floats,

This is the part I disagree with. Spectro music plays for one set of floats and then starts to fade. When the next set of floats come around, the exact same music swells again.

the magic of seeing the lights change in sync with the music. In a word, the magic.

That is pretty cool

What is it you like about Stars and Cars? Is it the cheap immitation "floats" or the obnoxious announcers?

I'll give you the announcers. I feel it would be better if they were synchronized to when the cars passed you by. However, there are few floats in the MGM parade. In fact it reminds me of parades I see in small towns. VIPs sit in cars and ride the parade so people can see them and wave to them. Really, in a parade, I want to see the characters. And you can see so many in such a short span of time.

Not a buncha themed cars driving down the road. I can see that at the local Homecoming Parade for less than $67.

And that is why I like it. It is also why I like the Family Fun Day Parade. More of an old fashion parade feel to it.

I miss Tapestry of Nations--a truly inspiring parade with fantastic music that stirred the emotions.

Love the music (way la..way la way lay...oh ey yay ley ....) but way to "out there for my taste. It helps to be drunk while watching that one.

So, again, to reiterate you can't say something is the worst without measurable proof. It can, however, be the worst in your opinion.

A) SpectroMagic does have words which you can hear during the preshow announcements, the opening, and the finale. And Genie "sings" if you wanna call it that.

B) The music changes for every section of the parade. There is the opening section, then a modification for when Genie sings that is more jazzy, then my favorite part of the music in the Sleeping Beauty section with the lights changing w/ the music, then the Little Mermaid, then the villains scene, and finally the finale music. Each section has very different music with the main Spectro theme blended in. They do this in Fantasmic! as well (the clearest example I can think of right now is when The Little Mermaid barge is spotlighted.

Otherwise, you are certainly entitled to your own opinion, I'm just not sure how you can suggest the music has no words and that the music is the same for every float...
