Magic Kingdom Parades

No, you may not edit my post.

I love Spectro for the music, the fact that it has real floats, the fact that it is a long parade (believe it or not, parades have not always been only 5 or 6 floats), it has all the characters with music very well synchronized to the the floats, the magic of seeing the lights change in sync with the music. In a word, the magic. What is it you like about Stars and Cars? Is it the cheap immitation "floats" or the obnoxious announcers? It is the most annoying and cheap parade I have ever seen at MGM. Whatever happened to greats like the Toy Story Parade? Lion King? Hercules? All bona fide parades. Not a buncha themed cars driving down the road. I can see that at the local Homecoming Parade for less than $67.

I miss Tapestry of Nations--a truly inspiring parade with fantastic music that stirred the emotions. The only emotion I get from Stars and Cars is "why is the line for the Tower of Terror still so long? Oh, because unlike the other parades, most people just continue visiting the attractions during this disaster." Bring on Block Party Bash.

I must say that I agree whole heartedly with everything you stated here. "SpectroMagic" is still an awesome parade to me (No matter how many times I see it). Wish they would bring back "Toy Story Parade" to replace "Stars & Motor Cars". See my thread / request here: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=160519&highlight=Toy+Story+Parade. And, I terribly miss "Tapestry of Nations"; I think it is quite possibly one of the finest parades that Disney as ever produced. I have the soundtrack on my iPod & listen to it constantly.:animwink:

I love Spectromagic even though I have seen it tons of time....I love the music. Maybe because it brings back lots of memories of being at Disney World.....I hear the music and just get a great feeling. For me, music is a huge part of whether I enjoy a parade (or not enjoy it....I still will get "Its time to remember the magic!" stuck in my head after how many years?? Sorry....that song did to me what Its a small world does to alot of people!). Also I love the Christmas parade. But my kids LOVE all of the parades, no matter how many times they see them! And in this phase of my life, that is the most important thing to me.

Each section has very different music with the main Spectro theme blended in.

Otherwise, you are certainly entitled to your own opinion, I'm just not sure how you can suggest the music has no words and that the music is the same for every float...

You are right that Spectro has words at the beginning and the end. It would be nice if it was running all the way through. But being a long parade, there are long runs of just music.

I would suggest that the music is reverse of what you said. You can only subtly hear the Snow White and Little Mermaid songs because the Spectro theme music over powers them all in my opinion.

And I can suggest "the music has no words and that the music is the same for every float" because I have to listen to the parade every night, sometimes twice a night. :brick:

After 6 months, it really is the only thing at WDW that I can say I am truly sick of.

But I can see why you enjoy it. Thanks for explaining it to me. I will try to hear the other music next time.

I have to agree - but we're hardly ever in the parks in the afternoons anyway, so usually miss the afternoon parades. My favorite day-time parade is Mickey's Jungle parade in AK.

But, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Magic Kingdom's evening parade, Spectromagic...

Personally, I love the MGM stars & cars. But each to their own opinion, thats what the forum is for. I like all the day time parades, but wouldn't bother much about spectro. Needs a bit of a change I feel.

I can't believe you people are disgracing Spectromagic!!! All you newbies get me angry. Just because you've been to disney once, you think you have the right to vote off things people enjoyed ten years before you ever visited. Sorry if i come off nasty, but i've had to sit back and watch the every day guests boot Journey into Imagination, Enchanted Tiki Room, and Alien Encounter. I refuse to let people who think Stars and Motorcars and Jammin Jungle are better than Spectromagic! Now that is rediculous.

Seems like most of the posts are defending Spectromagic. I'd just like to point out that just because someone is new to this board (like me), does not mean they have only been to Disney once!:)

They probably wont be getting a whole new night parade any time soon but, is it not time for a refurbishment at least? I think that was the reason MSEP returned for awhile while they were doing rehab on SpectroMagic. I would think they would be doing rehab on SpectoMagic relativly soon and if so, hopefully they will have a temp. replacement for it.

Jungle parade is my favorite day time parade, too. The cast members all seem to be having such fun! I also love Spectromagic no matter how many times I see it. I really miss the Epcot World Showcase parade Tapestry of Nations. It was my all time favorite.

I've been going to WDW since there were A,B,C,D, and E ride tickets.

I don't like Spectro Magic all that much. I love the Main Street Electrical Parade. I'm just happy Figment is back in Imagination. I see no HUGE difference since Iago and Zazu are managing the Tiki room. It is more relavent to kids. I miss If You Had Wings, but Buzz is cool. And while I loved and will miss El Rio Del Tiempo, I accept the fact that things change; sometimes for good, sometimes for not.

Change happens. If it doesn't suit your tastes, oldies stations on the radio can help you be nostalgic.

Jammin' Jungle Parade is my favorite daytime parade...and it's the most popular with guests (for good reason). Of course, with no nighttime entertainment, AK deserves to at least have a great parade. This got me thinking...how would a nighttime light parade look at AK? The park is so dark (good dark...I like it at night) in the evening that such a parade could really look incredible traveling through the jungle.

I was merely stating my opinion. And just because i've only a few posts doesn't mean I've seen it the once. I've been to WDW 8 times in 10yrs. And i don't have the comfort of a 2 hour flight or a few hours in a car. Its a lot of saving of money and 9 hours on a plane.

Oh, excuse me eight times. I lived in New York and went more in one year then most people go in a lifetime. I'm not saying it's a competition, but who knows the needs of a park. We're all Disney people and we all obviously care about it. I'm CLOSE with management, real close, and it comes from being there all the time. Jammin Jungle may be nice, but it's a low budget parade with absolutely nothing special. The same can be said for motorcars at MGM, characters in cars, and better yet, a majority of characters no one cares about. And in order to keep an attraction open, it takes a few people, but it doen't hurt when you own a considerable piece of the magic.:zipit:

The Main Street Electrical Parade is the finest parade ever conducted anywhere.

ever.

As I told guest services the first time I saw Spectromagic, the floats were impressive and the music was "ploddingly magestic." The Baroque Hoedown, on the other hand, is perfection.

As I've also told WDW, if they bring back the Main Street Electrical Parade again, they've just sold 4 more premium annual passes!

That's a bit arrogant and elitist, is it not? What does being close with management have to do with judging the quality of a parade? As I see it, it's a matter of opinion. No one is saying the parades aren't popular.

For my money, I don't mind Spectromagic, but think it's a bit tired. It's time for something new, though I don't anticipate that happening anytime soon.

As for daytime parades, Share a Dream Come True is ok, not great. It's better than the extremely dull Stars and Cars, but nowhere near as good as the Jammin' Jungle Parade.

I could care less how many times someone has been to WDW - people are entitled to their own opinions. Another thing, these so called everyday guests far outnumber us WDW nuts. Therefore their opinions would, and do matter to WDW, I would bet moreso than ours.

As far as supposedly being "real close" to management - What management - the french fry stand? Park operations? Light Bulb procurement? What does being close to management have to do with anything?

While I do agree with you that the other parades are not even on the same field as Spectro Magic that doesn't mean that everyone has to feel that way.

I wasn't going to toss my .02 into this thread but couldn't resist. I do miss the ELP, but we do stake our claim of curb side or train station area well in advance to watch Spectro for a few reasons...1 the kids love it, 2 its like nothing we could see at home and 3 w/o watching Spectro, it wouldn't feel like a trip to WDW.
We watched both Tapestry parades in Epcot once each..once was more than enough for us. It did not appeal to us. We do watch the parade at MGM but not every single time we go. We watch all of the Christmas parades. Christmas is the only time we bother with the parade in AK, again, its just not our favorite.

However, I can promise you this, all of the parades are popular enough with the masses to ensure that a. if you want a good spot to view/video you must stake your claim early AND b. no matter how early you stake your claim, some obnoxious person/group/family will come up 5 mins before parade time and insist they can squeeze their whole group in that 2 inch space between you and the trash can (or the next group of people, light post, etc).
