Its the parade that got me hooked onto disney. Begging my family to stay to watch it. I was stunned. Loved the first float with the trumpets and specto men. Also, i recommend martins tribute video. Cant get enough of them.
I remember when I first seen Spectromagic in 2004 that's when the power of Disney Magic really gotten to me. There's something about Spectromagic and WDW at night (Especially the Magic Kingdom) that really makes you get that Disney feeling that MSEP doesn't get. Mainly during Spectromagic's run at WDW until 2010. Really helps that Spectro and Wishes actually have a great connection since Jiminy Cricket hosted both of those shows.

Thanks for sharing this Marni! I'm 20 minutes into watching his tribute to SpectroMagic and am loving it. This guy "Martin" has a treasure trove of great vid subjects! THANK YOU for turning me onto this archive I feel like a kid in a candy store, I'll be spending a lot of time there.
I really loved seeing older footage of Spectro from the early 90's. I remember the Spectromen's voiced sounded more electronic and robotish during the earlier years of the parade from 1991 - 1994/1995. I think the Spectromen got clearer sounding voices around 1996 or 1997. The trumpettes also sounded different during the earlier years of the parade.

From what I understand from people I've talked to, the new fireworks show is ready - it all depends on when they wanna move forward with it. With as much is happening with Entertainment this year (between the new castle show, new Star Wars offerings at Studios, Rivers of Light, etc.), it may be a little while. On top of that, an October opening date may not be seen as a great idea (even if it is the 45th) because of seasonal offerings happening every other night or so - non-party nights at Magic Kingdom are already packed, it would only make it worse if they were to bring in new Entertainment on top of it. We may see something within the year, but who knows really? (New parade may or may not be coming within the year too - I've heard accounts of float testing)

As much as I hate to lend credibility to anyone really, I have begun hearing rumblings as well about new nighttime entertainment for MK. Of course it could be wishful thinking, and it could be further in the future then we would like. I remember rumblings of festival of fantasy more than two years before its opening. But there does appear to be interest....what that means obviously remains to be seen.

Rumblings of fireworks or nighttime parade? I wonder what will be replaced first? Both are in desperate need, MSEP more so.

My money is on fireworks, they're easier and can go from concept to show in a few weeks if needed. I want to say about 2 to 2 1/2 years ago there was some serious discussion and even some testing for a new fireworks show but nothing came of it. Plus there is at least one already programmed and ready fireworks show in their back pocket that could be modded into a daily show pretty easily.

As much as I'd rather a new parade ... they are a much more complicated beast.

Let me guess, Fantasy In The Sky? Fantasy is now up to Wishes' standards, has been since the Castle Dream Lights came in 2007.

They could go back to the few latest versions of Fantasy (that would be cute for the 50th), but I meant a different show that's not been out there daily yet.

Ready as in just green lighted? Or ready as in they have pyro and soundtrack for it already????? If that's it: wow that was quick!

As for MK not getting the Dreams package a couple of years ago, yes, that was unfortunate. But it doesn't mean MK can't do something in the future, Look at DL's ROA, untouched for 60 years, now they're tearing the back part out for SWL. Sorry for the sore subject, but you get the idea. MK can put fountains on either side of the castle in the moat. Or put one row(looks like one row)of fountains in front of the castle stage like SDL did.

I would go further and say 4 or 5 shows programmed (Wishes, DVC 25th, Fantasy, Maybe the Summernightastic and Pirate fireworks are in there as well....)

If we assume, MK will not be getting a new regular fireworks show until the 50th, could a holdover show be an enhanced version of Wishes that combines the projector tech from the Celebrate the Magic Show with the current Wishes soundtrack? It would fit in with any 45th anniversary marketing as a plussed attraction. It would, however, beg the question of why they haven't done it yet, though. There's been a projector based 'pre-show' running for years now.

I hope not. They need a new show that doesnt include projections. The hub would be disaster, even with it being upgraded.

From what I understand, the soundtrack and pyro (and possibly projections) have been created and made (as well as a logo even) - It all depends on when they wanna move forward and install and produce it though.

No way. I mean I could believe but to know they have that just sitting in their back pocket for whenever just doesn't sit well with me.

They probably have in mind cloning Ignite The Dream from SDL. Originally the rumor was getting a version of Disney Dreams... Well Ignite The Dream is very similar. The question is will MK get the fountains? The pyro and projections are a given.
