We just made our third visit to AK since closure of legacy FP. We were given a FP+ pamphlet on our first visit on 12/14 or 12/15 but haven't received one since.

I have a theory from my personal observations that FP+ (at present) is not being widely utilized, at least not by off-siters and locals.
I would agree. I mentioned in another post thst the CMS are almost begging people to use fp+

Hopefully once the system is full go, maybe the trend will be the same as before, i.e. not many people using FP still, and then they can change it to allow more FP+ picks per person, but I don't see that happening anytime soon...maybe a year or 2, but I highly doubt anything will change in the immediate future...

Or god forbid they open up pre-booking to offsite and day of guests to utilize the excess FP capacity.

I think Disney is going to push on-property guests quite hard to use the advance FP selections. They will certainly sell it as an added perk of staying on-site. For off-site guests, I think they will also encourage the use of same-day FP much more than they did the paper FP. However, you'll still have first-timers and others who simply won't get it or won't bother.

What I can say for certainty is that only around 20% of Guests used the legacy FastPass. Whereas at Animal Kingdom, they averaged around 65% with FP+. I wouldn't be surprised to see it stay around three selections. Three are fine with me. It holds standby down with less6 FP.

I guess this post confuses me. You say that AK fast past usage has more than tripled, but that helps standby lines because there are fewer FP?

According to data contained on touringplans.com (which in turn comes from Disney), wait times for the month were up by 3% when comparing December 2012 with December 2013.

WDW attendance was up 1%-to-2% for the year.

This translates into no more than a minute or two longer wait per attraction, not even noticeable IMHO, and completely consistent with WDW's slightly higher attendance.

All things considered, the data makes sense. FP+ neither adds guests nor ride capacity; it simply shifts who waits in what line. Unless attendance changes, overall wait times should remain fairly constant pre or post FP+.

The primary difference will be that FP experts will now be limited to 3 FP+ per day while onsite guests will get preferential access to FP+ selections. Overall, onsite guests should end up waiting less, offsite guests more.

Today was absolutely dead at Magic Kingdom. There didn't seem to be any lines for for the FP+ kiosks mainly because most attraction didn't even need a Fastpass.

I went over to MK tonight around 7pm for wishes and I agree - it was dead. I have never seen Main Street look so empty (do not get me wrong - it was people but nowhere near what I am used to).

Standby line wait times for attractions such as Peter Pan and Space Mountain were under 20 minutes most of the day. :)

A lot of other attractions remained walk-ons throughout the day.

At least some CMs working the FP+ kiosks were bored.

Maybe it will get busier this weekend. Otherwise, crowds should remain light for another month until President's Day weekend.

So when are the legacy FP machines disappearing from HS and EP? I was at both last week and they were still in use.

Disney has not published a date but the general consensus seems to be that they'll all be gone by the end of February but quite likely sooner. Possibly much sooner.
