Magic Kingdom Bus Loop expansion

Seeing that there going to have Busses to DHS,AK & The odd Epcot/FT Wilderness bus at MK..What does this do to the TTC Stops to the parks? Will those become obsolete?

Still should be a good deal of foot traffic because the TTC is still the Magic Kingdom's parking lot, and is also the main stop for a lot of external bus lines including Orlando Links public transportation.

Became a bit of a park hopper addict while at Disney last month. The Magic Kingdom was my main park so it often involved extra hurtles. Getting between all of the parks was quick an easy with the exception of the MK. To get to or from their you had to take a monorail/boat and a bus. It's the only one that was not a single ride. The one day I went from from DHS (8am EMH) to MK (9am park opening show) to DSH (10:30am RR fastpass and wizard mickey photos) to MK (12:30 parade and rest of day) within a single morning to hit different scheduled events. It was still simple to accomplish and in no way impossible, but in doing so I couldn't help thinking how much easier it would be if the bus went directly to the MK. Going from DHS to TTC took about 15 minutes. It then took an additional 15-45 minutes (depending on Monorail breakdowns which happened constantly) to get from TTC to MK. Once the bus gets to TTC it couldn't be more than 3-5 minutes from MK. I'll miss the fun of a monorail ride but it'll certainly save time. MK to Epcot will always be a monorail though, too easy a jump and the ride time is likely comparable.

I'm sure I'm a rarity though, most aren't park hopping directly. They go back to their resort and then head to a new destination.

Pardon my loss of memory, has there always been a bus to Poly and G.F.? It would seem that with the new DVC wing at G.F. and one going in at the Poly, that another mode of transportation would be needed. I wonder what would be quicker, a bus to G.F. or the monorail since it would be the last stop leaving the M.K.

I would opt for the boats. Those little launches are always faster, in my experience, than the monorail.

2014 will feature the announcement of Disney's Transportation and Ticket Center Resort, a Disney Vacation Club property.

Especially when the monorail breaks down and you are stuck on it for 2 hours. To paraphrase Lorde, "that kind of [de]lux[e] just ain't for us; we crave a different kind of [bus]."

I am curious, for the moderate resorts with two locations now, does that mean that one location will go to one specific half of the resort, and the other stop will go to the other half. That would actually make getting in and out of the resorts quicker.

I sure hope this is the case. I have always believed that combining resorts onto shared bus routes is a severe disservice to the guests. Be it All Stars, POR/POFQ or GF/Poly/CR - it should not happen. Perhaps this is finally a step in the right direction.

Why do some of the resorts have double stops? For example, AKL? Will one be allocated to Jambo and one to Kidani? My concern with having two stops would be having to choose which line to get in, hoping that you get a bus first (unless the lines are connected?). Maybe I'm just reading this wrong, but I can only imagine the issues it could cause.

Perhaps it's a single stop with a double-sized queue and space for a second bus to queue behind the first.

I was wondering the same thing. I thought they were type-o's.

It would also be great of they could standardize the Bus Stop locations.
i.e. WL and CR is Bus Stop 2 at every park.

I know not all parks have the same amount of bus stops, nor the same bus routes. But if they continue to invest more in bus transportation it could be something to consider.

I agree completely with this. They can fill the sots from 1-x with fixed route destinations. Dynamic routes can fill in the rest. It isn't so hard to make the guest experience better by giving the buse logical stops.

So does this mean the existing platforms will disappear or is it to help with the nightly mass exodus ? And if they are going to use 3 platforms will the CM's with the wands be holding the crowds while directing everybody which platform to go to ? Does this also allow for any new routes in the event of new resorts ?

That is how it used to be with the monorails. You had to show your ID to board a resort monorail AND if you where boarding at your resort, you still had to show ID. Transportation was for Disney Guests only (other than the water ferry and express monorail.

If that were true, how did anyone get to an ADR at the Contemporary or the Grand Floridian? Without a rental car to park at the resort it would be problematic getting to one of those meals...

I'm old school. There was no GF or ADRs back then.
If you weren't staying at one of the two WDW resorts (or Ft. Wilderness) you had a car and could drive over to the resort you wanted to shop/eat at, and they could check you in at the gate.
Hence the still checking to board at the resort so as not to have someone come in to shop/eat and try and hop onto the monorail to get to the park.

As I remember around 77/78 it was show everyones ID, then around 80/81 it became show one ID for your group.
