Like the idea that physical lines moderate demand... while online ordering allows unfettered demand to slam a location? :)

Disney needs to use load/time estimates into their ordering tool to combat that.
Correct. And that’s part of the problem with fastpass and virtual queue as well

They already do this and it’s part of what people are complaining about. That’s why sometimes people go to mobile order at noon and the earliest arrival window they can choose is 2 hours away.

Disney has been quietly testing fireworks at Magic Kingdom. Assuming 1st dose vaccination rates keep going up and case rates keep going down in Florida, the goal is for nightly fireworks to return to the Magic Kingdom by July. This seems to be very achievable. Shows could resume before then, but July is the goal that management really wants to hit. Physically distanced markers would be placed around the hub area and Main Street for fireworks viewing, similar to how Shanghai Disneyland is operating.
With the new CDC directives (as of 5/13/2021), shouldn't we expect the return to "normal" fireworks sooner? It is now very likely that all of the restrictions will be lifted by June 1. Everyone that needs to be immunized can and should be vaccinated before June 1. Why would Disney deprive their customers of the entertainment they have paid for and rightfully expect? In fact, we pay "Disney prices" for them to exceed our expectations.

No I wasnt thinking that just trying to see the practical process of restarting fireworks. For example, we are seeing daily testing of Harmonious but thats because its a brand new show. However, since HEA has been dormant for so long, will it need all the types of servicing and supplies a new show needs or can disney pretty much just start the fireworks right away if they wanted?
I think they may do a test run just make sure that the projections, music, and fireworks all match up. They may also need to order and load the fireworks. It's going to be interesting seeing how the projections work alongside with the 50th Anniversary decorations on the castle.

Anyone presently booked should not have assumed they’d see fireworks.

Or perhaps they should cancel their bookings altogether until thinks have "returned to normal". It's a double edged sword. But if Disney is seen to delay reopenings beyond what is recomnended by public health officials, they are creating a lot of bad will and openning themselves up to liability. Afterall, there is no discounted rate right now.
No. You don’t just flick a switch.

In all fairness the lack of fireworks isn’t a secret. Those paying admission pay knowing that.
The reason behind the restrictions had to do with social distancing and limiting park attendance. Since they're increasing park attendance and the science acknowledges that there is no benefit to further social distancing, There is no legitimate reason for limiting the services / entertainment.

Along that sane vein, Fastpass should be returning as attendance grows.

Insofar as re-initiating fireworks are concerned, yep, pretty much it's flipping a few switches.

I'm inclined to think that Marni knows a bit more about this than you do.

Re initiating fireworks requires the firework techs, entertainment techs, crowd control cast members, possible park hour adjustments which then changes labor for security, monorails, buses, watercraft on top of labor inside the park among many other things.

Yea, re-initiating fireworks is NOT just flipping a few switches. Loading the firing program into the computer is just pushing a few buttons...it's all the other stuff that takes time. Besides all the staffing, transportation and logistical changes that come with their marquis fireworks shows, there's a ton of technical and safety stuff they will need to do. I'm sure they de-installed a lot of expensive hardware- fireworks computers, maybe moving lights etc. Anything they didn't de-install will need to be cleaned/tested- can you imagine the animal nests they are going to find in some of those launch tubes after a year. The aim of all the tubes will need to be checked, all the wiring will need to be tested for continuity (rabbits used to chew through any unprotected wiring in the show I worked on), the electrical firing/distribution boxes will need to be checked, I believe they use air to launch some of their shells, so all the pneumatics will need to be tested, the sprinkler system on the roof of the buildings will need to be tested. Then they will need to actually run the show a few times just to make sure it all works and fix anything that doesn't.

How sure are we that HEA will be back and not a non castle centric show like FITS or Wishes?
Just spitballing here, but I imagine the infrastructure is very different now and the pyro stock/availability differs greatly. Unless they’re willing to use all the colorful shells from HEA in something like Wishes. They would need to change their orders to coincide with whatever Wishes was.
