Magic Kingdom after midnight?

On busy days like Easter, what are the crowds like at Magic Kingdom after midnight when extra hours have it open until 2 am?

Just wondering what to expect if we get checked in late and wanted to go over for a few hours the night we arrive.

Besides the late running attractions, is there limited food and drink available also?

Thanks.

Yes, there is limited food and drink at this time. The main restaurants are all closed and most of the stands are too. It is however, one of my most favorite times to be in the world!! :sohappy:

Like the previous poster said, the restaurants are mostly closed but you can still find some places for snacks, hot dogs, sodas, etc.
I haven't been at exactly Easter time but have been during peak times in the summer. I don't remember the crowds being huge past 1 am. It is one of the most amazing times to be in the MK though! I remember one night walking down Main Street during the EMH, eating a hot dog from Casey's and looking at the clock...it was almost 4 am!

The snack carts close early as well. Things like pretzels and ice cream become hard to find. I know one time, MK was open until midnight or such and they stopped selling pretzels at like 8:30pm. Which I thought was insanely early.

Snacks are hard to find...but there are places open. Even during the busiest times the park clears out by 1 or so. I was there this summer when the park was open until 3, and I was able to ride Splash Mountain 3 times without getting off the ride (it was about 2 am).

I love love love MK Evening Extra Magic Hours. Sooo many memorable moments.

The crowds usually take a little while to thin out, in my experience, but once they do it can be such a great time. It won't be *empty* by any means, but it should be easier to get on the stuff you want to see. :)

As the others have noted, food can be hard to come by and the choices may be small. If you have dietary restrictions or picky eaters (or if you don't consider popcorn to be a meal -- though Lord knows I've made it a meal many many times at WDW!) you might want to try to eat a big lunch earlier in the day or eat something at your resort before heading to the park.

One of my best memories is strolling down Main Street at almost 2 a.m. Hardly anyone else was there and it seemed like my son and I had the park to ourselves. And this was an EMH during summer.

If you ever get the chance to stay that late in MK, do so by all means. It truly is magical.

Are the buses back to the hotels still running that late at night? It seems unlikely that they'd keep you stranded there (although I wouldn't really mind it :ROFLOL:). And what about the monorail and the ferry?

be carefull of riding Small World without other people. (if there's nobody getting off the ride, don't go in, or it'll eat you too.)

Just a late night warning. :lookaroun

My experience has always been the mountains are all walk-ons by the last hour but Fantasyland is NEVER the case (which I always find amusing, since logic would suggest teens/adults would be willing to stay that late, not kids)

I have seen Peter Pan and Pooh have 20-25 minute waits all the way to the end, but as other posters said, I have ridden the mountains again .. and again after 1 am.

But again, as other posters have stated, certainly worth the late night trek.

Not old, just vintage.
I have had a few hellish Easter/Spring Break EMH experiences in the MK. Fantasyland crowds ran heavy straight through to 3am and and the rest of the park didn't really clear out until after 2am. Even leaving right at 3am I have encountered quite a few people still in the parks.

My family was in WDW last week and my six year old daughter and I went to MK EMH. We arrived at around 9:30pm and the EMH started around 11pm. Until around 11:30p it was still pretty busy (not mid-day busy, but busier than one might expect) - as we approached midnight, the park started to get quieter. We rode Big Thunder Mountain twice in a row between 12a and 12:30a, with about a 10 minute wait. Peter Pan actually had a 20 minute wait around 1am, but we had gotten fast passes when we entered the park (for 1:05am!). We left around 1:30 (the park closed at 2am) and many people had left. There were scattered places to buy snacks, and the busses were running pretty frequently.

It was a great time - I had circled this day on the calendar for a while, as I love being in the MK that late!

I just don't enjoy EMH on the real crowded nights. I would prefer bowing out on the early side and taking advantage of morning EMH. Definitely less crowded.

And yes, transportation always runs for an hour following park closure.

Ive done EMHs during spring break and 4th of july weeks and 2am looked like 2 in the afternoon. Its amazing how many people are still there. The latest ive been in the MK was about 3:30am and there were still quite a few people. Snacks are slim pickens..the hotdog and popcorn carts were open in Frontierland, the lunching pad was open and so was Caseys. There were a couple others too but cant remember where. In fact its 11pm now and MK dosent close for another 4 hours tonight....

Food options will be limited. Casey's is usually open until park closing. Transportation is pretty much fully available, although the boats to Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness don't always run to closing. But you can catch a bus home. It's great to be in the park at night.
