I've never read anything by Jane Austen even though some of my friends swear that I will like her work. I'm afraid that it might be too romantic and whimsical for my taste.

If you don't want to read P&P, at least watch the Colin Firth version of the novel. It's a mini series and very faithful to the book. You may just love Colin Firth like every other woman did after seeing the movie :lookaroun

However, I really did enjoy the book. It's not your typical romance, and it's very sassy and forward for their time.

Well that's pretty descriptive of her style as a writer, too.

I haven't seen the movie, but I do love Colin Firth.

In a way, he's been typecast as a result of doing Pride and Prejudice. His role in Love Actually was named Darcy (like Mr. Darcy in P&P), his name in What a Girl wants is Henry Dashwood, a character from Sense and Sensibility. It's what he's known for
