I've studied ancient philosophy but not modern philosophy. However, I know that it was very important to the French Revolution and even the founding of the U.S.

Oh for goodness sake, yes! I mean, Locke influenced the way this nation was constructed! Smith instructed us in the beginnings of Capitalism! Many of these philosophers played a very direct role in the way the US evolved as a nation.

I love ancient Philosophy. I have been reading Plato in the original Greek. His language is incredibly beautiful and the concepts just flourish in their original language.

Awww, Existentialism is the best stuff out there! Ancient Philosophy is boring. Just sayin' :lookaroun

So then. . .
WHAT do we ever really know for sure???????

NOTHING! We could be brains in a vat for all we know.

Cool Runnings? or Cheaper by the Dozen?
Give me time, I'll think of more.....

Check and check.

Caddyshack was made in the 70's and had Chevy Chase and Bill Murray, about golf caddies at a country club. In one scene someone dropped a Baby Ruth candy bar into the pool and everyone thought it looked like something else. Bill Murray came upon it when they were cleaning the pool and took a bite. :ROFLOL: :ROFLOL: People were passing out when he did it.
Totally juvenile humor, but it's what I remember about that movie! :D

Bah, Plato. The only thing(s) I find interesting with him are the Teory of Forms and the Divided Line.

But then again, I haven't read his work in the original Greek

Yeah, I definitely read a translation of Plato. I also studied Aristotle, Augustine, and Machiavelli. It was the hardest class I've ever taken.

I really didn't have a choice but to study ancient philosophy. I will be studying modern philosophy the next two semesters.
