Hey guys and gals.

Just a quick update on my mammacita.

She had her surgery yesterday...turned out to be a bit more extensive than we had originally thought.
After they removed the ovaries laparascopically (sp??), they found that the one with a spot on it was fine, while (ironically) the one that looked normal in fact had bad stuff in it.
Luckily, this type of tumor rarely spreads. But just in case, they performed a complete hysterectomy.
So she will be in the hospital for a few days. I've been to see her a few times already, and she is making great strides towards feeling like herself. She's still a bit groggy from the anaestetics (sp?), but is doing much better.

Y'know...sometimes I wonder about certain people in our lives...in this case, family...
Mike went down to see his dad, as I said, yesterday and had a nice visit. When he arrived, hid dad was talking to his older brother and handed the phone over to Mike and said 'say hi' (w/out telling him who was on the other end). So Mike does and doesn't recognize the voice and asks who it is...to which his 'brother' says, 'who do you THINK it is?' Excuse me? He never talks to us, never gets together with us unless he absolutely has to, and acts consistently like we are not worthy of his time or attention. Why WOULD Mike recognize his voice?
I know there could be worse things, and I'm sorry for the rant - I know he could be a lot worse. But I see the hurt, anger, and disgust on my husband's face at being treated that way...ESPECIALLY when his only crime apparently is existing. And that hurts me. Anyone that takes the time to know my husband knows what a gentle soul he is...he would never knowingly treat others badly, in word or in deed. He is quiet and reserved, but not oblivious to those around him.
I don't know why I'm going on about this...his 'brother' will never change (I'm using quotes because family shouldn't treat one another like this), and it's a waste of time complaining about it. It just always seems like this time of year, it manages to hit us in the face once again......

I am sooo sorry for the family problems. Families don't seem to understand how much they hurt one another.
