Maelstrom Closed for refurbishment

^ where did you hear about Maelstrom? All we`ve heard is about The Spirit being updated.

I read a thread a while back on this messageboard where someone said that they were making the ride about some Disney character whose story was set in Norway. I can't remember the character's name. Hopefully, it was just speculation and not fact because I'm really getting sick and tired of Disney dumbing down their Epcot rides, as in The Living Seas and El Rio del Tempo. I know many people feel just the opposite and that's fine. But I think these changes stink.

That rings a bell... but I thought this was one of the original ideas back in the mid 80`s. I could be wrong though. Hopefully not, if you get my meaning.

El Rio del Tiempo- dumbed down?!? I'm sorry but nothing is more dumb than a carousel of mindless dummies bobbing up and down, only trumped by a male market-man speaking with the audio loop of the market-woman...

Ahh... Good times, good times... Those lifeless puppets (dummies, horrible excuse for automatons, whatever you want to call them) were pretty much the life of the party, and I really did enjoy el rio, though there was always something bugging me about it every time...

I just hope they don't do the same silly garbage with Norway that they did with Mexico: take a ride that is supposed to be focused on the country and dumb it down by making it a Disney character ride. Unfortunately, I read somewhere that this is exactly what they are doing.

Although i wouldn't put it below disney to do this, not too many norweigan characters are popping up in my mind.

Considering the ammount of time El Rio was down for, I really doubt that this will be anything substansial (such as an overhaul) since it's going to be closed for less than a month.

Stranger things have happened but I wouldn't expect much.

They could import a character and make it the "Ren Hoek Happy Happy Joy Joy Norway Ride" where Stimpy gets lost and we take a wild ride with Powdered Toast Man. What do you all think?
