LWTL is open!

Has that scene always been there or was it different back in '82? If so, what was it?

It would be best to ask Martin. But Horizons did a great job of depicting futuristic farming possibilities. I just think Epcot worked best by ending almost every experience in Future World with an optimistic view of the future. LWTL is great at showcasing cutting edge research but the ending is weak to me in that it fails to provide a vision of where all the research you have just seen might lead. So I think it would be well received if they depicted lighter than air orange picking machines (from Horizons) and green farming skyscrapers that are currently being conceptualized for cities etc. That is what "Epcot" should be, especially in Future World.

Meh. It shows the people of the world and the food that they grow. Seems like it ties perfectly into the purpose of Epcot to me.
Flashing still pics?? Come one! It was better in 1982!

So, I missed the reopening by 2 days. At least I`ll see it in 7 weeks :D

New boats are now on back-order, and LWTL will most likely close for two weeks in January to install them. Or it may close for a month in January, if they get new film afterall.

Heres hoping it won't be down early-mid February, lwtl is a fave :animwink:

We are talking about the final pictures on the wall just before unload. Is that original?

Ah! Nope - it`s from 1994. Before this the finale was a recap of the opening `symphony of the seed` scene with similar overgrown plastic plants and coloured lighting.

Thank you. I don't remember that. Listening to the video above I see the wisdom of going with the automated boats however.

Anyway, point is, I think they need a futuristic, technologically forward looking and optimistic ending to really make folks feel inspired when exiting the boat ride. That is Epcot (and Disney) at it's best.

sorry to sound stupid but what is LWTL?
Good point.Sometimes the use of initials on slightly more obscure rides (I choose my words carefully) CAN BE AS IRRITATING AS PEOPLE USING CAPITAL LETTERS AND LOTS OF FULL STOPS TO EMPHASIZE THEIR POINT..............................................................................

From what I was told all the AA's are working again, as well as the mist in the rain forest.

Other than that, not much has changed. New films were planned but got axed due to budget cuts. New boats are now on back-order, and LWTL will most likely close for two weeks in January to install them. Or it may close for a month in January, if they get new film afterall.

Wow TDO can't do anything right!
