I live in Slidell and never plan on leaving Louisiana. Though our government is corrupt, our economy is in shambles, and large chunks of our coastline dissappear each minute there is something special about our state.

More people need to start believing in our state because we have so much potential to be greater than we are. It all starts with electing better people to represent us in Baton Rouge. Right now, our whole government up in Baton Rouge is a joke. What did they just accomplish in the recent session? NOTHING except a picture in the paper of two dumbass senators holding a picture of Tom Benson's yacht. What does that accomplish? NOTHING, although it does show other businesses that have no desire deal with them and frown upon success.

One day I hope to be Governor of Louisiana, so I can make a difference! Our state needs some serious help, so one day, people like Tara Mae won't want to leave.

Well, make your first order of business to restrict eminent domain laws in Louisiana. Private property rights are what make this a great country in which to live.

I also hope one day I can make it to LA government, probably the senate, and do what's best for the people. Maybe you and I can get something done.

Why don't people aspire to make an honest living anymore?

Just kidding!

Hey now!

No really, I completely understand.

Well, having someone that's a little more "Mr. Smith" and a little less "Teddy Kennedy" would be a refreshing change in government on any level.

And for the record, Louisiana doesn't have a corner on the market for bad politicians. Tennessee just had several arrested in an FBI sting. One is the uncle of U.S. Representative Harold Ford, Jr. He's a "rising star" in the DNC.

Wow, its great to meet so many others from Louisiana, I had no idea how many Disneylovers from LA were on this site!

Um, wonder if all of you living out of state knew about Uglistiches closing? I'm still not over it. They had the best po boys on the planet.

We should have a better idea later this evening where this thing is going to make landfall. Hopefully, it will just be a matter of picking up everything in the yard; and not having to board up.

It looks like the NHC has shifted the track further east to central Louisiana.

I'm not worried about this storm...it's just a bunch of rain, we're in need of it.
Maybe some wind, but we'll survive...the worst is if we end up on the east side, obviously.
I've had to bard up twice in my life, and leave once, I'm not up for it again.
It's a situation that when it happens, we know. You really can't predict something as uncontrolled and unorganized as this.
I'm not worried.

Anyone else thing it's stupid to force the Evacuation route upward? And close roads to the west completelly? That's what LA plans to do in event of a hurricane/tropical storm...at least Cameron and Calcasiu parish (Yes, parish, not county! ;) ) I went to Houston during Lily, and that ended up being the best thing, as the storm ended up straight north, so why force north?

Yeah I am pretty upset that I can't travel west too. We are forced to go north regardless. Our problem here is storm surge. We live on the water in a low lying older neighborhood that easily floods from storm surge.During Isidore which was maximum winds of 60 mph and a nothing storm, we had almost 5 feet of water rise in our neighborhood and suffered 2 feet of water in our home. The water came up so fast and everyone was unprepared. People had to walk out of our neighborhood with garbage bags filled with clothes and kids and pets on their arms and shoulders to get out. We usually are under mandatory evacuation if there is a 2 - 3 foot surge predicted. Being a single parent with 3 kids, an elderly mother and 10 pets, its no easy task to evacuate!!! I just am glad its happening this weekend and not next weekend, because thats when we leave for WDW.

The tigers are gonna be the dark horse to win the national championship this year. As long as Jamarcus gets better and plays well, it will be tough to beat us.

Yeah, if we can get the quarterback situation straightened out, there is no reason why we shouldn't be a contender this year. We have the talent. I hope Les Miles can continue the tradition of excellence of LSU football. I look forward to purchasing my 2005 LSU National Champion gear!

It looks like Cindy will be passing right over Saint Charles Parish around 1am Wednesday (tomarrow). So we should have wind and some rain; but the Mississippi Gulf Coast will get the wet side of the storm. Another advisory will out at 7am.

Good luck, DisneyDreaming!

They keep saying "Dennis the Menace" will be headed here, but it's too far to tell. Look what Happened with Cindy...it was forcasted to hit Galvaston, then Lafayette, and now Missississippi! It took an Easterly turn...Dennis will do what he likes, I say.

Thanks, but it looks like we will dodge the bullet on this one, the water levels are low and have only come up a bit since this morning.

You are right about the other one Dennis. I am debating though, whether to make a reservation for a hotel just in case we need to leave. We should know more this weekend. I'm praying we don't have to cancel our plans for Disney like we had to with Francis last year. We leave in 10 days.
