I have my parents bring things up when they come: Community Coffee (they sell some blends here, but it's like 200% more expensive) and Community Tea, Blue Plate Mayo, Kentwood water, Oak Grove Smokehouse rice mixes...

I can't divorce my Louisiana upbringing. It's who I am. And my son will be raised with an appreciation for it. Lord, I hope I can keep him from having that East Tennessee accent!!!

How about another 10 points on the board for a non-Louisianan/someone who knows French to spell out the pronunciation for the name "Melancon".

Jonnie what are snowballs ?:veryconfu

Snowballs are crushed ice drenched in flavored syrup. My favorites are cherry and orange. Maybe Jonnie can post a pic of one. There are stands everywhere here.
Other things from here I couldn't bear to live without are:
Pralines, Doberge Cake, Muffelattas, Bunny Bread, Blue Plate Mayo, French Bread, Barq's Cream Soda, Cannolis, Creole Cream Cheese, Filled King Cakes
Also: Iced Tea (year round), Real Coffee (the kind that can put hair on your chest), Crawfishing, Alligator hunting, Shrimping, Wedding Cake Pulls
Speaking of weddings......here in New Orleans; most weddings are not the sit down type. There is no cocktail hour, then sit down dinner, then dancing. And bringing an umbrella is a must. The wedding cake has pulls in it; the bride selects a few single girls to pull ribbons sticking out of the trim of the cake. Whoever gets the ring is supposed to get married next. Whoever gets the thimble will be an old maid!

What flavor are you getting? I could go for an orange snoball after lunch (muffelatta sounds good today).
BTW: How are the mosquitos your way? They are about to carry us off here:(

Have any of you tried condensed milk as an "icing" on your snow-cone? :slurp:

That just stinks doesn`t it?
Are you type 1 or type 2? I`m type 2 considered borderline. I control it with oral medication and watching my diet and exercise.
