Other things from here I couldn't bear to live without are:
Pralines, Doberge Cake, Muffelattas, Bunny Bread, Blue Plate Mayo, French Bread, Barq's Cream Soda, Cannolis, Creole Cream Cheese, Filled King Cakes
Also: Iced Tea (year round), Real Coffee (the kind that can put hair on your chest)

It's like a walk down memory lane...

No, but I would love to...esp. after listening to all of you.
I really can't think of any food that I would miss if I left NY. (which I plan to do in the next few years...got my eye on a little place in Bradenton, fl).

Louisiana is a unique place to live. Sure, everyone complains that it's too hot and humid, but sometimes you long for that feeling (at least I do...it's "home" to me). There isn't any regional food in the USA that's more unique. Heck, just the word "cajun" will probably bring thoughts of food to most any person in the country...whether they like it or not.

I don`t know there are alot of places that have "REGIONAL" and unique foods for instance there`s the "PHILLY"
and Chicago is known to have great pizzas and then there is the "Boston" clam Chowder :D "cajun" to me brings up images of Heart burn!

That's because the "cajun" food you have had probably wasn't spiced correctly. If it's done right, it doesn't have to cause heartburn. Real "cajun" food has good taste and it isn't necessarily "HOT". :slurp:

Just make sure you stay trim and fit and you might be able to avoid it. My doctor says that if I can loose about 75 pds. I can cure my diabetes. I`m thinking of gastric bypass cause diets don`t work for me But the hard part is convincing my doctor to recomend it,cause My insurance wont pay for it unless my doc. recomends it.

I'm only mildly overweight, I guess. According to Weight Watchers (my wife lost 30 lbs on their program last year), I'm about 20 lbs above my "ideal" weight. Everytime I tell that to someone, they think I'm crazy if I lose that much weight. Most people don't think I'm overweight.

I guess I didn't do too badly even growing up in a state where food is a sport...

Well the hard part is getting my doctor to recomend it,cause he says surgery is his last resort. and I weigh 265 pds. so I`d say I`m over 100 pds over weight. I`d like to get back to my high school weight of 150 pds or thinner.

It worked for my wife...she lost over 30 lbs on it. She was trying to get rid of what she picked up when she was pregnant...

I thought she looked great anyway...but now she looks GREATER! :sohappy:
