Living Seas Rehab: August - November

Why do we keep wanting to swap exit/etrances? Folks said that about the small world rehab and even talked about big giant ramps at the Land.

What's with the entrance swapping fetish?

not sure..... im not really for it or against it, cant make up my mind yet. i just stated that it would be interesting to see how it plays out. i hope it works and doest turn into a disasterous move.

after they take out the hydrolators, this should add for more room for the postshow, or a nemo giftshop.

According to Disney, The Living Seas will not be operating August 21 through late November, 2005.

What is going to happen?
Most likely, Nemo will be "taking over" the building. Also expect changes in the design of the pavilion.

What is rumored to happen?
I've heard the following RUMORS:
- A reversal of the entrance and exit of the building
- The return of the SeaCabs (WDI has been testing out hollograms of Nemo characters that would be seen in the tank)
- Removal of the hydrolators
- Gutting of the preshow area

I can't wait to see what kind of redesign is brought in. However, I do not like the idea of having the ENTIRE pavilion being based off of Nemo. Of course, I don't mind his presence; he currently has a good balance with the pavilion, keeping the "realistic" importance alongside the fantasy.

We shall see what happens!

I am pretty glad about this rehab. I know when I was around 8 or 9, I didn't get TLS. I was scienced to death. All the technical terms and nothing to make me want to stay in. Sure as I got older, I leaned to love in more. With as scientifically acurate as this movie was, I think it woud be a good learning tool to be used in there.

I'm for whatever they do to the pavillion. It needs some life. Hopefully, the rehab will put it back on the map.

Next pavillion: Wonders of Life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am now very anxious to see what the Imagineers can come up with. First we had The Land rehab, Ice Station Cool is currently under a lenghty rehab and The Living Seas is next. It seems that WDW management really wants to give Epcot a big makeover.

I'm bummed! We'll miss it in September. Fortunately our DD didn't know about the Nemo stuff anyway. We'll have to add this to the list along with EE and make an '06 trip now!

The Living Seas Pavillion (pre any Nemo overlays) was easily avoidable, particularly because of how confusing it is for new visitors to find. Let's hope that the ongoing rehabs spark some life and make it worthwhile to spot on your guidemap.

In all reality it seems more logical to switch the entrance and exit, due to the fact the initial queue winds throughout a room just to pour into a larger room.

It would be better to utilize that space for a sea cab queue and or small gift shop and relocate the other areas.

Also, by eliminating the hydrolators more space is provided. I can only hope they add scenes/length to the sea cabs. Plus it would be great to eventually add another attraction to the pavillion, which could be located between the Land and TLS. There should be enough room and still allow it to remain somewhat hidden.

Anyways - operational update:

Coral Reef, Seas Aqua Tour, DiveQuest, and Dolphins in Depth will continue to operate.

If this is true, we should be able to get updates during that 3 months on the progress of the rehab as people will be inside the joint.

Keep us posted, and thanks.

Why is it that I experience worry with the announcement of every rehab? Please keep Epcot, Epcot! No need to kiddy pander in every attraction in every park and no need to talk down or play stupid to the kids either.

Aas someone said, it could go either way. Can but hope

I fully agree with you!

Was'nt it Uncle Walt himself who stressed the importance of NOT "talking down" to kids? I have read many of his comments related to this....someone here can probably quote the more famous ones.

I think Seas is in need of a upgrade, most definately. When last i experienced it in 2002, it seemed a bit of a mish-mash. The layout was all screwy and it had a strange theme to it since the more 'modern' upgrades stuck out from the "original' theming of the pavilion. I was not there to see the Nemo invasion, but i have heard good things about it so far. I just hope the Company does'nt go nuts and has a all-out Nemo overkill on this pavillion.

I agree that "Seas" would not really fit in well in Future World with another character Fantasy Land. EPCOT seems to have lost it's direction and it's way over the past 10 years. I pray the 25th Anniversary has some wondeful surprises in store....i really like the idea of re-introducing the classic 'Symbols". I suppose in today's age, Disney will feel it nessesary to update them as well...but hey, at least we will have some EPCOT symbols again in some shape or form!

I completely agree. :D Bring back the symbols!

And please, don't over-Nemo my Living Seas... :(

According to my sources, orange colored "smoothies" will be one of the prominent NEW features of the pavillon. No word yet if they will keep the INTEGRITY and SPIRIT of the original WoL smoothies intact though.

I'll do what I did when the Land was being worked on... reserve judgement until it's finished.

After the sucessful rehab of The Land, I would think some of you would be a little more open minded about this project. Let's hold the bashing to a minimum until there is a reason.

Sea cabs.... I have been waiting for them to come back. The Nemo additions have been great IMOP and to have TLS attractin people again would be great.

Nemo will have meet and greets outside the pavilion during this time.

But don't you fret. On your post-2005 trip to Epcot, Nemo will be unavoidable.
