What if Meg told them that WDW would make their own announcements on their own timeframe in the manner they choose and the place they choose.

Only explanation I have.

In Disney's eyes they do not need to make announcements right now. There is enough in the public domain for people to feed on. Fantasyland, DCA, Shanghai, Hawaii, new Cruise Line.

As long as things are happening behind the scenes with new attraction development i am fine with not hearing about it officially now.

Nearly 3 days of events and everyone gets upset about what was or wasn't announced during the 'Disney parks' hour. Why travel there for the event if all you are interested in is that? Stay home and watch the updates online.

There were significant announcements in the past at D23 re WDW, but the anticipation and hype about things being announced this year was mostly created online by people like...us. I would have loved to hear something too, but I didn't necessarily expect it. There's only 2 years of D23 history,so not like there's a lengthy history of big announcements at this event. I think that Disney will make announcements when the timing is right, which could be any day of the year.

Now that we have griped... Wasn't 30 minutes cut from this presentation??? any possibility a light bulb went off in managements' heads and they cut new WDW announcements to instead make them on october 1st, the 40th anniversary of WDW???

Well schedules get moved around all the time at these things. October 1 could very well be a possibility.

Maybe they realized that Staggs shouldn't be out there any longer than he had to?

I think most, if not all, of the people on here griping aren't actually at the convention. We're sitting at our computers griping.

I think 99% of us would agree with this sentiment.

However, the idea that they are having a biannual convention that many people are ponying up for, meanwhile excitement builds for WDW fans, then they give us nothing. It's a bad job by them.

They built this up the same way comic con and E3 are built up. Then there is nothing.

It is highly disappointing.

This is exactly my problem with presentations like today. When they're a failure, Disney fans start making excuses for how Disney is actually really great and we are all overreacting.

Ummm...No. Disney messed up, and, as paying and extremely loyal customers (maybe too loyal), we have the right to have certain high expectations. With the rising cost of travel, and the rise of the costs of the actual tickets required for entrance, we expect to have new experiences that make us excited about how disney world is always changing.

I certainly support the new fantasyland expansion, and it looks fantastic. However, I can't help but wonder why the Magic Kingdom, the world's most popular theme park and arguably the fullest (Attraction-wise) in florida, is receiving such a major upgrade when every other park could use that money. I know people will argue that it's wonderful that the Magic Kingdom is getting a facelift, and I agree, but, Disney should fill in the missing pieces before building new experiences they'll just have to maintain later.

If you keep adding, you can't maintain what you already have.

(Now I've gone off on another tangent) My original point, and why I quoted your comment, is that I fear that if we always put so much emphasis on these new presentations, we'll be disappointed. I think it's okay to accept that disney world is not seeing a lot of love until the end of this decade, when they'll be prepping the 50th anniversary.

Let me be clear: when I say adding, I mean expansions, not new attractions within the park that take the place of old ones.

Only clip I could find of tonight's audience reaction from the expo.

In all honesty, I do feel a bit better about the idea of WDW announcements being pushed off until Oct for the 40th celebration. I just hope we aren't setting ourselves up for another disappointing evening like tonight.

Only time will tell.

Nothing new is getting announced on October 1st. I am willing to put money down on that.

It will be a small event like they did for Epcot's 25th.

Well, I can't say I'm surprised, but I was still hopeful so I am disappointed just a little.

If Disney has decided that the expo isn't the place they plan on announcing projects, what exactly is the point of going again? It's not exactly a cheap trip out there! I can't say I would be happy if I had gone to this one.

That's not entirely true. I Bet the "festival of fantasy" or some new parade will be announced and TDO will act like it's some huge deal and make us even more disappointed than we are now

Yeah, after this they are going to have trouble dragging people to another one. If there is another one.
