I think the presentation went on late because they were trying to figure out what they'd say when they got out there.

Tom Staggs has no personality and does not command a stage. Ugh.

Lol at all you guys who thought something big was going to be announced. Lee was saying from the get go to keep expectations on a down low. I knew more than likely that all we would hear is FLE news and what not.

It's your guys fault for getting so hyped when many "upper" members have been saying not to.

How dare fans expect new announcements at a companies biannual huge convention.

Just because they didn't announce something doesn't mean they don't have something in the works for WDW.

Lee said about 18 different things.

At one point it was "a new Disney decade," with lots of projects announced that might never get built.

Then it was a Fantasmic refurb, new parade for the 40th, and Grand Floridian DVC.

Then it was a statement that WDI was in "full lockdown mode."

Then it was the RFID technology.

And then there was the "expect nothing big" proclamation.

When you cover all of your bases, you're bound to be right at some point.

Let's get some perspective on this. D23 is not the only mechanism that Disney have to announce new projects. They will do it when it is most beneficial to them to do so. D23 is not necessarily that. WDW has announced new projects for 40 years without D23.

Except that D23 Expo is supposed to be Disney's version of Comic Con or E3. This is the big time when they should be making new announcements. Every company that holds a big convention like this from Apple to Activision will always announce exciting new projects. It is expected of conventions. Either go big or go home.

Surely, there are other things in the works that weren't announced. But knowing that doesn't make this presentation any better. It was an utter waste of time!

Let's face it...they'll blame it on the looming Double Dip Recession.

The good news is Package Discounts should be coming back to the resort soon! :lookaroun

Disney never put up D23 as the place for announcements. It happened at the first one because the timing was right. The fans are the ones that have made D23 into this hope of announcements - not Disney.

If anything, Disney have made it clear now that D23 does not mean new attraction announcements.

Not to offend you Steve, but, when Disney creates a fan expo and creates a presentation about their parks and resorts, the disney fans who pay expect to hear something new. I would understand if this was a presentation meant for the general public, but this audience was full of fans who follow the disney parks blog and were probably updated on 95% of the things announced.

There is no harm in recognizing how terrible this presentation was, and it was extremely terrible. Anyway you look at it: theatrically, strength of speakers, review of projects...it was terrible. Also knowing that the disney company has most of their focus headed internationally means that disney world (what we're all about) will see their unfinished parks remain unfinished, and their broken rides remain broken. It's a really bad time to be a disney world fan, especially when we see billions of dollars going everywhere else when places like Animal Kingdom remain a half day park at best. Pretty embarrassing.

Yaaaaa...sure....

Whether they initially intended for the expo to be a stage for announcements - that is what it has become. Tom Staggs certainly is making a name for himself as underwhelming the public in just about every presentation he makes. Not only a boring presenter - but in no way giving his audience even a shadow of what they are anticipating.

Agree with you 100%. You don't create a convention like this and just recap stuff that was announced years ago.

Agreed I feel so bad for people who flew there from the east coast to see this lame @## convention. You would think a company like Disney could put on a better presentation then that.

Completely agree. Well stated.
