Live(ish) Trip Report - Celebrating 25 Years of Wedded Bliss in NYC

Stopped at Magnolia Bakery. Got 3 brownies, 3 magic bars, and 3 lemon bars.


Also got overheated! Sugar free, but not totally “skinny”, vanilla iced coffee. That should help.




We are now in the 4th floor hotel lounge, recharging our batteries (physical and phone), waiting for our car to take us to the airport.

Lesson learned last trip - taxi from JFK, car service back. The $15/$20 extra bucks is totally worth it.

We’re here. Boarding begins in 55 mins.
I should be home, in bed by 3:00. On my way to work by 9:30.

On the plus side, I put clean sheets on the bed before we left, so I will get to sleep in my own bed, on crisp, clean sheets. Sadly, there will be no Holly to greet us when we get in.

Well, my long day just got longer.
We pulled about 20 feet away from the gate about 1/2 hour ago, and then nothing.

And then flashing lights. Police boarded our plane and removed a passenger.

I didn’t sense anything unruly going on behind us.

Sigh. And here we sit.

The dude was removed at least 10-15 minutes ago.
Cops are still on board.

And me, I need to use the potty, but we’re not allowed to leave our seats.

No idea. We had to wait until his luggage was removed. Looks like we’re starting to move. More than an hour after scheduled departure.

He was behind us maybe 5 or 6 seats, on the opposite side of the aisle. I didn’t hear any commotion.

Number one for take-off. Yay.

Safely landed; on our way to Wegman’s.

Got the deets on our dude. Apparently he kept saying “bomb” at least five times, and threatened to kick out the windows once we were airborne.

When the police came to get him, he did not resist in any way, although he did act somewhat perplexed.

Anyway, now we’ve “got a story”. One day when we’re old, in side by side rocking chairs at the old age home, we can look at each other and say, “Hey, do you remember when the cops took that guy off the plane at JFK?”

And we’re home.
Everything is in from the car, and the essentials are unpacked.

I get to work tomorrow. Mike gets to unpack and clean the house. Not sure who has it worse.

The birds are singing, and I’m off to bed. Good night all.

Jennifer, did you go on the tour at the UN? I love that tour. (Looks like you just took a few pictures, and probably ran out of time, which is understandable.)

I laughed out loud over your car ride with @NYwdwfan! NYC is only a smidge more dangerous than driving in Boston--craziness rules. (P.S.: That is why I refuse to drive in the city.)

Oh, meant to mention earlier--I don't think the bucket of popcorn that Mike had was large enough?! )

Lastly, happy to hear that you and Mike are home safe and sound! Welcome back.

Oh sure. Getting to the airport turned out to be the easy part. Getting out of the gate was the issue.

I need coffee. But first, my freshly washed hair of 24 hours ago is unrecognizable as “hair”, so into the shower I go.

I’m not awake enough for a shower.

He had a second bucket. (Complained the whole time that it wasn’t as good as his popcorn maker. )

No UN tour. We were just killing time last night.

And the lesson is - I will hop in the backseat of anyone who calls my name? Golly, I hope not.
