We got there early because I didn't want miss her, so we had time to go into MSG and pick up a hat and t-shirt for my favourite brother. And to take pics, of course.

IMO, the three best hockey players to ever play the game, starting of course, with "The Great One".
One of the workers spotted me taking pics, and said, "Don't miss Wayne Gretzky." I was too polite to say, "Dude, that's the first pic I took!"

So once we spotted @NYwdwfan's beautiful face (or she spotted Mike, whichever), we started walking.
And we ended up at the Empire State Building. Our bus package came with entrance for two to three separate attractions - with ESB among them.

I was pretty sure I wasn't going to get Mike up there, although that won't stop me from trying with Top of the Rock) ... but guess who was willing to go with me.

Sadly, I was running low on Apple Juice, so I had to be parsimonious with my photos. Mike went into some or other bar, and up we went.

NYC has the best elevator doors.

This park is Bryant Park. I want to know about the brown spooky mansion tower building in front of it. We'll be walking in that direction tomorrow, I suspect.

Tired of looking down? Let's look up, at the mast instead.

At this point, Mike has not has had a bite all day and I've only had the muffin, so let's eat.
We walked from ESB to Grand Central Terminal and dined at Michael Jordan's restaurant.

This was garlic bread with Gorgonzola fondue. Seriously, I could have eaten two of these on my own, died and gone to Heaven a happy girl.
After the bread was gone, the two ladies continued to dip our steak into the "fondue". It was that good.

Apps. You know which one is mine.
IMG_5405.JPG IMG_5406.JPG IMG_5407.JPG

@NYwdwfan got the filet.
IMG_5408.JPG

Mike got striploin. I think.
IMG_5409.JPG

I got the ribeye. I think. If not, I've got mine and Mike's reversed.
Be that as it may, while overdone, it was very tasty. Gorgonzola cheese on top, Gorgonzola fondue to dip ... what's not to love?
I shared my sweet potato fries, because I'm nice that way. Plus, I've already had two Starbuckies Caramel Macchiatos today, and I am swiftly gaining all my weight back.
IMG_5410.JPG

We all had the same dessert, but only mine came with a candle for some reason.
Although made in-house, it was only "okay", so I gave the last few bites to Hubby.

From there we booked it back to Penn Station, faster than we needed to as it turns out. I can't walk slowly, drives me nuts. Booking it is my preferred speed, even if it means waiting at the destination.

We did a little Duane Reade (by Walgreens :hilarious:) shopping, hugged good-bye and leisurely (yeah right) strolled back to the hotel.

ESB all lit up for you.

Macy's. Heading back here tomorrow to see the Titanic Memorial the employees dedicated to their boss, Isador Straus.

"My" Chrysler Building.
IMG_5418.JPG

Ooh, ooh, ooh - I know these blue lights.
IMG_5419.JPG
Yuppers, the building soooo important, NYC's perfectly laid grid is abandoned, forcing Park Avenue to go around and through it.

And that's it, that's all for Day 2.

The beautiful, beautiful Flatiron Building. Sadly, Mike has not gifted you to me yet.

Disney gives you the backside "... of water".
JennniferS gives you the backside of the Flatiron Building.

And then, it started to pour. We headed downstairs to the lower portion of the bus, but the windows were occluded with advertising, so what the heck good is that? Our bus then went out of service, so we had to transfer to the Downtown Route.

No pics from the garment district, China Town, StuyTown, Soho, views of the bridges .... We've got two more days on the buses, so maybe later.

Back to the hotel after a minor detour through Starbuckies, dry off, and then catch a cab to MSG, for the part of the trip I've been most looking forward to.
Have you ever been to Europe? One of the things I love over here is the architecture...all the old buildings. Especially Churches and castles. I'm like you...I take pictures of all the pretty buildings, even if I don't know what they are. When we were in Paris the first time, I took a picture of this really cool castle-like building with spires and such. Found out the 2ND time we were in Paris that it was the Conciergerie where Marie Antoinnette was held in prison for the last bit of her life. I just thought it was a cool building!

Really enjoying your photos, Jennifer!! You two are having a blast in NYC! :joyfull:

FWIW, I am also someone who power walks everywhere. Part of that is me being tall and having long legs, but I can't stand dilly-dallying.

Dilly-dallying is for dilly-dallers.
I am not a dilly-daller.

I also walk fast in the city. (Another reason for that is security--a long time ago, I read that if you're moving with purpose, you're far less of a target. Dawdlers appear to be more distracted, and are easier marks for the baddies out there.)

I was most impressed that when the waiter delivered the food and purposefully placed the plate in front of Mike so he had the best view of the plate, he dutifully spun the plate around to give Jennifer the best view for the photo.

And yes - the garlic bread with gorgonzola fondue was THAT good. Not only did I dip my steak, I also dipped Jennifer's fries. :hilarious:

Oui, eh! Get it right or they won't let you back in.
To add this...

You will want to get back into Cananada in spite of the inability of you guys to spell words properly, eh. I have a feeling that there is going to be something big happening down here very soon. Not the place that you or anyone else would want to come to for a little while. At least they solved the immigration problem, who the devil would want to move here now. That said, NYC is really spectacular isn't it. Nice place to visit, but, I honestly wouldn't want to live there.

Mike: Let's take the bus to Central Park today, and switch to the uptown route.
Me: Let's walk to Central Park and hop on an uptown route bus.

Man, you'd think he's the one with the bad hip.

But first, brekkie.

(Mike had a breakfast bagel, but ate it before I got back.)

Back in the day, when this hotel was called "The Lexington" and the main entrance was from Lexington rather than 48th, I'm assuming this was the main entrance. Now, it's the Starbuckies.
*sigh*
