News Live-Action Tangled Remake in Development

A pause seems plausible. But don't count on it to last.

Disney's live studios used to put out about 7 flops for every successful tentpole making the overall finances a wash (in the theatrical window).

The current live-action-remake along with sequels and prequels are batting .500, making the franchise train a bigger success than what came before.

Doubling and tripling down on franchises is what made Disney movies financially revive (over all) in the post-pandemic era, and was the announced strategy.

So... again... I wouldn't bet that the rumor of this pause signals a big change in direction.

It's crazy that instead of making an animated sequel, which would do huge numbers (see Moana 2), they opted to do another live action remake that nobody asked for and would do maybe half the box office.

There's a good reason why casting is done by professionals hired to, you know, cast actors, and not left up to plebes behind a keyboard.
I feel compelled to point out that, unlike some casting professionals currently working at Disney, I have never cost the company (or any company) over a hundred million dollars because of a poor casting decision. So maybe the professionals shouldn't be put on a pedestal.

I’ve never cost Disney (or any company) over a hundred million dollars because of a poor casting decision either!

I’m curious. Are there any others out there who can say the same?

You just don't have the brilliant insight that led to genius casting decisions like Gal Gadot, who even the staunch Snow White defenders can't defend because she sucks.

Meanwhile, plebs on the Internet have been mocking her acting for years.

And theres a reason why that field is littered with the corpses of films they've killed when they drank too much of the kool-aid. (To be honest it was actually grape flavored Flavor Aid spiked with Cyanide they used at Jonestown). You wonder why certain actors are "blacklisted" ? That's because their baggage (social, political, lifestyle) outweighs their ability to attract average customers.
