I'd be perfectly happy with new fan favorite Meg Donnelly, since Anna Sophia Robb has aged out. She is only 24 and fits the character almost perfectly.
Her benefit is she already has a good working relationship with Disney on numerous projects. So might be a good fit there as well. Though she hasn't had much film work, working mostly in TV, so does she have what it takes to transition to the big screen.

She’s almost certainly a better singer than Hahn, but - and pardon the heresy - she is not a big enough “name” for the film. They’d likely go with a more known box office quantity (to be fair - Hahn has had modest success in this area).

It depends on who they cast as Rapunzel. If they go with a bigger name - Sabrina Carpenter?* - they may have more latitude to go with a more talented though lesser known box office quantity.

*Her box office appeal is unclear.
I don't know what you are talking about, Adele Kazeem is really famous.

Disney has reportedly paused development on the live-action reimagining of Tangled:

Well, from the sound of it they already incorporated most of what you would expect from the crappy version of Tangled in their crappy version of Snow White.

A pause seems plausible. But don't count on it to last.

Disney's live studios used to put out about 7 flops for every successful tentpole making the overall finances a wash (in the theatrical window).

The current live-action-remake along with sequels and prequels are batting .500, making the franchise train a bigger success than what came before.

Doubling and tripling down on franchises is what made Disney movies financially revive (over all) in the post-pandemic era, and was the announced strategy.

So... again... I wouldn't bet that the rumor of this pause signals a big change in direction.

It's crazy that instead of making an animated sequel, which would do huge numbers (see Moana 2), they opted to do another live action remake that nobody asked for and would do maybe half the box office.

Uh Oh, from the writer of Thor: Love and Thunder.

I don't know why they don't hire people with better Résumés. I guess they want to have someone to blame when things go wrong. "We should have supervised her."
