Gal Gadot is actually my least favorite part of the movie so far. She was good in the first Wonder Woman, but in everything else I have seen her in, she lacks range. I also think she lacks the sinister edge needed for this role. Someone like Lady Gaga, who can have more of an intimidating presence, would have probably been better tbh.
I completely agree... there's a major 'lack of presence' to the Evil Queen. I like Gal Gadot but agree that she only has a certain range to her.

Yes, it’s fairly common for many movies from different studios to play in-front of a rivals studios movie. If you notice most trailers for films usually have something in comparison with the main feature, whether genre or even target demographic, all based primarily on the 4 quadrant model
Ahhh…I always figured that movie theaters did that… Maybe through the different chains… as I noticed usually the last couple of trailers Are from the movie’s studio…. With the last trailer often being one that was just released in the past week

Just saw the trailer for this "Live Action" version. She's got a really nice song bit, which I like very much, but the CGI animals and dwarfs are Playstation 2 quality. I dont know anything about the plot, but the original fable she was ~ 7 and Disney's version about 14ish this one is much much older ... like the actresses real age.

I can't help but notice that the "seven magical creatures" are nowhere to be found in this trailer ... which is impossible because we were told that the original plan was ALWAYS to have CGI dwarfs and the Seven Hobos of Benetton (who turn into magical creatures) and that anyone who said any different was just overreacting and knew nothing about about Disney's plans for the film.

I agree with you to some extent about the CGI, but I don’t understand your criticism of the aging up of the main character. The days of teen brides in Disney animated features are well and truly over, and I’m happy about that.

When you say “we were told,” who do you mean? Who told us?

The trailer doesn’t show everything; perhaps they’ll still feature in the actual film. (I say this as someone who also feels that Disney drastically overhauled the film to include the dwarfs.)

Would you rather have her depicted as a fourteen-year-old who ends up marrying as in the 1937 film? Wouldn’t that sit a bit strangely with today’s audiences?
She's never actually referred to as 14 in the film itself. I don't know when that number was arbitrarily and retroactively added to the Snow White lore. It makes more sense for her to be late teens or early 20s.

You’re right that her age is never explicitly revealed. If you’re talking about the original film, I disagree with your last sentence given that Aurora is 15/16 and Ariel 16. Snow White really doesn’t seem any older than those two princesses; on the contrary, she’s rather more childlike in her portrayal.

I feel that all of the Disney Princesses (with the exception of Ariel and Merida who very much like teenagers), tend to look and act about 5 years older than their canonical ages.

The impression I got from Snow White wasn't so much that she was young, but just incredibly sheltered/naive about the the world. I always felt like other than cleaning and doing chores for the Evil Queen she never really left the palace much.

I tend to agree, but Snow White has always read to me as a teenage girl no older than 16. It isn’t just her behaviour that’s immature; her physical portrayal is likewise very young.

I just got back from vacation - after having a flight cancelled due to snow in Paris, so arriving home later than expected. So no, I'm not allowing people to vent and yes, I will try to clean up this mess.

You all know the rules against social/political posts, and also those against insulting, belittling, and otherwise being rude to other posters, so just give yourselves a warning or two (or more.)

I'm going to lock this for a bit as I have several pages of posts to review.

And why only a handful of moderators? We get accused of taking sides and inconsistency enough already - imagine if there were more of us!
